As others have said, the lighting and the shading are masterful.
I also wanted to add that having her center in the picture adds to its over all effect in my opinion. It bisects the image with a sense of flow and balance. Yet the lifting and curving of the one arm combined with the under touching of the other hand creates an asymmetrical contrast which compliments its balance and composition.
To me this is a perfect metaphor of that rush of passion, perhaps even the orgasm itself. The one hand flung upward with abandon and reaching for fulfillment. The other unreservedly and unapologitcly gratifying herself.
While I prefer to see a pretty woman's face, especially her expression, in nude photography, in this case it adds to the image. Don't we lose our heads during sex/orgasms? In fact don't we, for a brief moment, lose our identity and just become need and satisfaction? Isn't that what makes it as disturbing as it is attractive sometimes? In love we seek a type of loss of self into joining souls/hearts with another. In sex we seek the sweet pleasure of its freeing obliteration of self and the worries and cares in our troubled minds even if it is for the moment.
The positioning in the center of this figure creates the arch of her legs. the stacking focus of her left hand and her flat belly, the lines of her hips guides us to the flow of her shoulder to her rising breasts to her hand. And strikes us with the head being hidden in the throes of passion.
This is extremely sexy. It would have been perfect erotica for me if I could see her upturned head, her neck and chin and face trusts upward in ecstasy. But as it is, its a sexy statement on the joy and risk of abandoning oneself to passion.
