Go read it. It's great!

So, with LOTS of reference pictures and a good amount of trial and error, I got this little piece of work. It was my first time messing around with Photoshop, so I was really playing around with different effects and tools and seeing what they do.

The lightning was super awesome! I wish the building hadn't covered up so much of the sky, but that's not really the point of the picture, so...

I love the way Jango turned out. It took me a good couple of hours to sketch him and his armor (so complicated!) and try to make his face look even remotely okay, but all the work really paid off. I'm not totally pleased with Zam, but I think the gray lines and the white color worked to give her a glowing, unearthly feel.

The hardest part was the rainy ground. Eventually, I wound up using a smudge tool to give the concrete a few wet reflections, but I think it still needs work. And I just noticed, Zam is dead, so I don't think her little ghost should have a reflection. Heh, whoops.

Any suggestions on the piece? I'd love some comments from some masters of Photoshop.

Dedicated to my wonderful friend Pasha Pasha who wrote the story on which this picture is based! You're the best, Pash!

Tres cool! Sorry I took so long to comment on it Zam's ghostly effect is great, and so is Jango (I also like the pictures of him alone that you posted). The only thing that seems "off" about him to me is that his torso and shoulders seem more front on than the rest of his body, but I dunno if that was intentional ... oh and the highlight on the top of his head ...

I don't know squat about digital painting, so I can't help you there! I havn't really had the courage to try my hand at rain before in any medium, but I think your effect works. The rain would seem more driving and forceful (and thus more true to Kamino) if the lines were more straight though, I think.

Hey, any comment (even late!) is a great comment! Thanks!

Yeah, I've always had trouble with proportioning... Also, he came out a little tilted forward in the lone drawing. Tried to correct it by leaning the whole body backwards, but it does still look funny. And the highlight was meant to look wet, like he'd been standing in the rain and was soaked...guess it just came out looking stupid, lol! XD I'll work on it.

Glad you liked the ghostly effects! And thanks so much for the suggestions! You're awesome.

Yay, I'm double awesome
I see what you were after with the highlight, I think the hair highlight and the skin highlight should look different though, the way it lines up makes his hair look likes its painted on to a smooth head if you know what I mean.

Oh, forgot to say...

I think the picture itself is a little boring. It could have stood to be more interesting. Ah, well...beat me until you are satisfied.

Thanks, guys!
