It is much easier to accomplish these shapes in Flash. I wish Illustrator could learn from Flash and actually have easy-to-use, intuitive tools.

Do what works best for you I rarely use Flash to draw objects, so I don't know how much of this tutorial translates over to that program, but I hope it was useful for you nonetheless.

Oh, Flash is totally different. It is more art-centric, meaning you can move things around and just doodle whatever shape you want. Illustrator is more technical for most tasks and requires a lot more forethought.

That's great to hear ^^
You have some pretty neat stuff in your gallery, by the way! If you upload a piece where you applied the technique from this tutorial I'd be curious what it looks like.

Well, I won't upload to my gallery as it's just a tryout and actually I lost the file, had to hold the on/off button to restart d'aaww. ;n; But I had previously tweeted my awesome progress, which you can see here - [link] :'DD
But really, your tutorial helped me to get a little friendlier with illustrator. C:

Now there's that ring in the middle of the picture that's "selected" which made my fingers jerk to shift+alt because I wanted to resize it..... I think I need to take a work break...

I've always had trouble with Illustrator. I've used it once and ever since, I've never touched it. This will definitely help me out. Thanks~! :3

It takes some time getting used to it, yeah I didn't like the program either, the first few times I had to use it.
I hope it does!

One of the things I've been missing since I went LInux is the power and flexibility of Adobe Illustrator. Seeing this brings back beautiful memories.
Thanks!
