out of everything, i do like the roads, its a nice effect~
but everything else seems to be colored with dull colors and doesn't seem very atmospheric.
Q: How long did it take you to color this? (as a whole, minus sleeping, school, etc.) (minutes, hours, days?)
you don't sound to proud of it either, when you make something you put your all into it till it good in your eyes and FANTASTIC in others~ So if you weren't happy with the way it was colored and your not good with colors, why did you color it?

Around 37 hours
The only thing I'm not proud of is the background. I did put a lot of effort in the sidewalks, roads, grass, and the big house in front. I do agree with the dull colours, but what I tried to do was avoid having the background catch the eyes of the viewer. Unfortunately I couldn't come up with colours that looked good but not too good (if you know what I'm trying to say) and because of that, it effected everything else. I took your critique and I'm currently making a better version of the scene.

its actually pretty good to have eye catching colors in my opinion, when the environment the characters live in is captivating filled fully, it looks lived in, like you can see its history and how people grew in this upside down place. when the world looks interesting it can pull a person into the story they are watching.
If you don't want people focusing on the back ground then slightly blur it as things get farther away or add less objects and things as it loses sight.
I personally enjoy a sense of environment in the shows i watch ^^

One question...what type of effect would you want the colours have? For example, they have minor brush strokes in them, clean, etc.

well, thats up to your own artistic style and what you think would look the nicest and make you happy, if you want to make it clean, or have hints of brush strokes, that is up to your artistic choices~
