Description
This timeline breaks from ours in 1936; the Spanish Nationalists are arrested by the Republic before the civil war can start, avoiding the thawing of Italo-German Relations and the Italian diplomatic collapse with the French. However, little changes until 1938.Hitler's attempts to ally the British succeeds in May 1938, after the British government is successfully couped by the British Union of Fascists following the failure of the Munich Dictat to avoid war. France and Italy respond by forming the Continental Entente, later joined by Bulgaria, the Croat Resistance under the joint leadership of the Ustaše and Croatian Peasant Party, and Poland.
After France is divided between the two major axis powers in 1941 and a German puppet state in Italy established, Germany invades Poland, Yugoslavia and the Soviet Union, supported by a Japanese invasion of Siberia; Greater Austria, German Poland, and Podlachia are annexed to Germany, Reichskommissariats established in the remainder of Poland, Ukraine, Belgium, the Netherlands, Norway, Ostland, Don-Volga, Muscovy, the Caucasus and Turkestan, and the Russian government exiled to Western Siberia as the Siberian Republic to act as a buffer state between Germany and Japan.
France and Italy flee to Africa, forming emergency governments in Algiers and Tripoli respectively - Mussolini is killed during transit after his ship sinks; Emmanuel I takes power and restores democratic elections, citing the collapse of the PNF as a justification - and swiftly occupy British colonies in Africa; they establish the British Republic under a provisional government consisting of the exiled British opposition, led by Arthur Greenwood following the resignation of Clement Atlee in these territories, based in Lagos. Fighting from then is largely limited to air bombardment and military conflict over the control of Corsica, Sardinia and Malta, all held by the CE.
