Here's how Turel was originally going to look like in his deleted SR1 incarnation: www.youtube.com/watch?v=aALarJ…

Seems like to me that originally the brothers stayed humanoid when they got the strongest portion of Kain's gift (well explains why Rabab for example was humanoid on the top and a fish in the lower bottom as if he was supposed to siginfy that his high born brethern are about to get it worse due to them getting the weakest portion of Kain's gift) and I think Raziel wouldn't have devolved into a huge flying bat monster himself but rather I imagine him looking closer to Kain with wings (if not taller though) as Kain himself never devolved into a monster but got more inhuman overtime in his appearance however.

Interesting theory. While I too believe the level of the brother’s mutation was based on the order in which they were born I believe that over them they would have continued to devolve as the land itself continued to decay, all of them becoming more monstrous than what we saw.

I believe in the time of Soul Reaver Turel would have appeared more humanoid, I’ve actually sketched that old concept before, but by the time we saw him in Defiance he had went further.

Melchiah would have eventually devolved into a shapeless mass, Rahab would have become fully monstrous and aquatic and so on and so forth, with Raziel eventually becoming a large bat-like creature as I believe the creators already made mention of.

I believe Kain would have devolved as well, though much slower, but as the land continued to decay and he was directly tied to it I have no reason to believe that being the middle man between his children who devolved via corruption and the land that decayed via corruption that he wouldn’t do the same.

Actually I don't think he would have devolved like his later sons did since the devolving process was based on how far removed from Kain they were kinda inspired by VtM's generation system actually.

Well eversince Kain traveled to the past and especially became the "Scion of Balance" at the end of Defiance I think he has stopped devolving due to the reaver purifying his soul so he's not going to become monstrous like his other sons (other than Raziel) did anyways and it's probably why he sent things in motion in the first place to prevent that from happening since it's very likely he has looked upon the Chronoplast and caught a glimpse of what his sons and eventually him would become so he had to act and devised a plan and the rest was history....

Of course he might be the one who also sent Turel to the past as well (since he was the one guarding his Mountain Retreat) since he also might have also seen how SR1 was originally going to play out (like Raziel killing the priestess, Turel and eventually him and killing every vampire in Nosgoth with the Silence Cathedral) and he was going to ensure that ain't happening at all
