 DarkQueen013 requested a new character
gender   | female
age        | 19
status    | a princess of the royal family of Erum
outfit      | everyday
name     | Altena [al'tena], meaning''star''
In Ydnel, she would be a princess from the royal family of Erum, since the current Queen of Nidan does not have familly, descendants or close relatives
I am sorry that I could not make her birthmark. I tried, but it looked too big and weird being made of D&D
Here is a tutorial for the royal crown on the pillow

WhiteQueen94 requested a new character
gender   | male
 age        | 25-30
status    | Artisans, namely a perfumer, in his arm he holds a vial of lyde essence and a lyde flower
outfit      | everyday fo warm weather
name     | Hal Munoskon [hal mu'nɔ:skɔn], meaning "wealth, fortune" and "keen nose", a good surname for a perfumer
In Ydnel, he would be a prosperous perfumer living in Erum
I am so proud of his face and appearance! And he reminds me of an Italian, which is nice

CarlottaStudios requested a remake of her OC Willa
 gender   | female
 age        | 25-26
 status    | road guard
name     | Vela [vela], it is the name of a tree
In Ydnel, she would be a road guard escorting and protecting travellers and merchant convoys
I am sorry that I did not show her pointy ears! And made her outfit too simple... but these clothes are meant for men, so nothing too fancy

DeeryDeerth requested a picture of herself as Ydnel inhabitant
status    | Converse, namely a painter
in arm    | brush and palette
outfit     | festive
name     | Lindana Priden [lɪn'dana prɪden], meaning " a maiden of stream" and "forest"
In Ydnel, she would be an aspiring painter living in a small town somewhere in woody foothills of northern Nidan
I know, you asked for an everyday outfit, but this skirt looked too beautiful, so I just could not help giving it a festive vest

You can look at the step-by-step of the landscape skirt here , it is made of D&D

I hope you like them

You can also make a request here

.•♫•♬• 𝓝𝓸𝓽𝒆 ℱ𝓻𝓸𝓶 𝓔𝓬𝓱𝓸  •♬•♫•.   You're so very welcome, my dear!  The whole set of pics were amazing!  I'd love to make a request but I just don't have a very good idea at this point.  Any suggestions?  You could always browse my OC list (though I need to update it) to see if any of them inspire you.  I don't know.  My brain is so frazzled today!  Ugh!  I'm really tired and stressed out so I can't think very well.  Sorry!

Well, I took a very quick look at your OC list, and I thought I could make Gabriella Vandeen, just because I like how sweet, kind and innocent she is! Such a nice character would be a good rest after the group of criminals which I am about to do next . Plus she is a blonde with blue eyes, while the vast majority of my Ydnel requests are about brown-haired characters. If it is all right, I would like to know your opinion about her outfit and its colours, her social position, and what you would like her Ydnel name to mean.
To me she also looks very like the main heroine of my story was at age of 15 years - a lovely blonde with blue eyes, born into an aristocratic but disregarded and thus impoverished family, and having her life planned for her (she is believed to be the chosen one who should save the world), a sweet, innocent and kind girl, both frightened and encouraged about her future, a bit uncertain, but ready to believe in the better - it is what she was like until her mother had been killed and her life changed to less cloudless faring.

❀--❦--𝒩𝑜𝓉𝑒 𝐹𝓇𝑜𝓂 𝐸𝒸𝒽𝑜--❦--❀  Awesome!  Gabriella always comes out beautiful when people make pictures of her!  Ha ha!  I'm glad you like how sweet and innocent she is.  When I created her I was afraid that would be a "turn-off" to people.  I didn't want everyone to think she was a "Mary-Sue"!  I'll go look at the info you gave about social position, names, etc.    ~     That's really cool how much she has in common with your character!  Great minds must think a like!

This outfit is a b s o l u t e l y beautiful! I really admit I stared it for more than five minutes for sure just to admire its beauty! And then I spent another five minutes staring at the other outfits! But I really love the outfit you made for me. All of my favourite colours (yellow used to be my favourite colour, but gold/dark yellow goes perfectly with purple, as I see) are here! Topped with an astounding painting! I admit, I feel a bit inferior - I could never do a beautiful landscape with ordinary brushes like you can make one with D&D! Well... at least not yet, anyway. And still you'd say you can't draw... but with D&D's by your side, you certainly can! I do agree that this skirt is gorgeous and it pictures my favourite type of landscape, so what's there not to love!? I simply had no idea what would be a good festive outfit, so I asked for everyday just in case... but now, I can see that this festive outfit you made is perfect and I really love it! Also, it's kind of funny that I have a white shirt almost like that one - in addition to the sleeves, the collar on my shirt is also creased.

Thank you so much for taking up my request! It's more beautiful than I imagined it to be! It's really something to be proud of, too! The skirt seems to have taken a lot of time, but I value it! I'll be sure to save it on my hard drive and come back to it whenever I need inspiration! And now, I can't wait for what you'll do with Scarlet! I figure her outfits won't have a painting, but I think you'll make something wonderful with them nevertheless!

I really like the other outfits as well! While the princess's outfit's colour choice isn't exactly by my taste, her appearance and outfit really suit her status! And I admit, the perfumer really looks handsome, haha. Just like most Italians. Vela's outfit may seem simple because of the colours, but I can really appreciate the shape and the patterns of her outfit! Those really make her look Elvish, so no pointy ears needed to point out the obvious, which lies in her outfit! I also love how you did the bow and the dagger. In addition, I like how velvety her coat looks. All in all, you did an even more wonderful work with this batch of requests! Keep up the great work!

And oh... last, but not least, I wanted to point out that there's a little typo in the tag. Instead of @DarkQyeen013, it should be DarkQueen013 .

Thank you very very much ! I am so glad that you like them

About the princess's outfit, I do not have a lot to say. To be honest, I do not quite like this shade of cold pink, but I though it would suit her status better than any warm pink I could think of.

The funniest thing about the perfumer and the person who requested him, is that she is actually an Italian herself.

As for Vela, I am quite contented about her outfit. I tried to make it look elwish since the person who requested her, mentioned that she is half-elf with pointy ears. But there is no elves in Ydnel, so I made what I could.

And of course I am happy that you like your request !!!
For the landscape, I was lucky to find good reference photos, one for the mountains and dale (I have got an impression that it is somewhere in Rocky Mountains in Canada) and another one with beautiful sunrise and dawn clouds. And I merely copied them (you know how it is with drawing - you look at something and try to get the same on paper/wherever you draw), that is why it looks so good and realistic. So please do not feel sad, for you are able to create even more complicated scenes out of your head, which is apparently much more difficult!
As to the kind of outfit, I was going to make it everyday like you asked. But then the landscape was just so beautiful, that I decide it would worth to be a part of a festive outfit! So I gave it a festive vest (which has buttons/claspers at the back, as opposed to the everyday vest with buttons at the front).
It can be even a wedding dress in fact, since it has some green in it (green is traditional colour of wedding clothes, especially in Nidan). And it is how I like to think of this image. She is a painter, so she painted her future wedding dress herself. And now she got it on again, to check how it looks and perhaps to add some finishing touches to the landscape (since she holds a brush and palette with the needed colours). The pendant in the shape of altenlik flower is tbe local equivalent of engagement ring (quite appropriate since altenlik is the renowned symbol of luck, wealth and good wishes). And her both calm and contented expression makes me think that she is optimistic about her future with the one with whom they chose each other.
Of course it is only my sentimental imagination . But anyway I am glad about how her face looks. She is very calm and kind, and curious and optimistic. She indeed reminds me a lot of you as a person I know. Also she reminds me of Raisin.

Also thank you for pointing out my typo! I corrected it once I read your comment back then .

You are always welcome!

That is so amazing! It figures that an Italian requested this character then, hehe. I hope she liked your design!

I think you did just fine with Vela's outfit. It's really elegant and elven!

I'll say it again, the skirt is absolutely beautiful! Referencing is an artist's best friend, that is true, but I do tend to be lazy with references sometimes... so that's why I often try to draw something out of my imagination instead. But I figure I should draw with references more often, to get a feel of what I do... my imagination can't always be enough, at least when I haven't trained to draw certain shapes and details beforehand through references. I'll learn in time, I suppose. I'm also really glad to know you feel that way about my art. Thank you.
The landscape is very beautiful, I agree. It depicts my favourite landscape very well! And it totally fits for a festive outfit! I'm glad you made it that way!

That's very interesting to know! I really like how green is the traditional colour for wedding outfits in Nidan! It's a very good colour choice in my opinion, haha. Although I should mention at this point that I don't seem to have the same notion of a wedding as everyone else... you see, I feel that in real life, I wouldn't ever want to get married. It's mostly because I feel that an official marriage is like chaining myself to someone - one often has to sign papers to prove they're wedded (horribly bureaucratic, in my opinion), then they both have to wear rings (I know they're just symbols to let others know they are married, but wedding rings look like shackles to me) and finally, Christian weddings often require to pledge one's love to God. I don't believe in any god, so it just feels wrong. I don't think I can ever get married because I would feel it would take away my spiritual freedom... and all those lawsuits, problems and blames that happen after divorces... honestly, I'm kind of scared about wedding someone.
I like to think that if I love someone, I have to tell them that myself through my actions. No one else can judge a love between me and another person, purely because it's the feeling only two of us know best. And not every love may last forever... sometimes, people simply lose feelings towards each other, and I figure that may happen to me at some point as well. Anything can be possible when it comes to relationships, really... I would get the wish to marry someone only if I knew that person was perfect for me and that we would really love each other until our last breaths. But that kind of love is very rare... and I'm young, so I have plenty of time to see what is comfortable for me. Just a thought, I wasn't going to denounce your imagination... I actually think it's a very lovely idea in itself. I like how the engagement trinket is a pendant instead of a ring. Do they wear pendants when they're married as well? I would actually be more okay with a pendant, since necklaces and pendants don't feel as constricting as rings... I really feel uncomfortable when wearing rings, however I'm always fine with necklaces. Maybe it's just me.
I really like Lindana's expression as well. I can see myself in her. Calmness, kindness, curiosity and optimism are the positive traits that I don't deny having, hehe. And Raisin's resemblance to me/Lindana makes sense... Raisin's appearance and personality were based off me, and it's especially important since she is my fursona. Fursonas/personas/feathersonas/scalesonas/whateversonas are a person's way of introducing themselves to someone, because they share a lot of traits. In that sense, Arrellin may be your persona.

You're welcome!

Arrelline In reply to DeeryDeerth [2016-08-13 21:26:41 +0000 UTC]

Well, yes, she liked it . Besides she asked for warm colours and I made it mostly in yellow which is her favourite.

Again, I am happy that you like your request !
Now a bit about Ydnel traditions.
Green and blue are traditional wedding colours in the most of Ydnel actually, except for entire military estate and some other people mainly in Erum, those prefer red instead. Green means spring, youth and renewal, sky blue symbolizes clearness and purity, and red is the colour of glory and passion.
The style of wedding outfits is pretty much the same as the one of everyday clothes, so that people could wear their wedding costumes on special occasions during their further life, it is both practical and nice.
Engagement/wedding jewellery can be of any kind, depending of the preferences and wealth, but there are always two quite identical items, one for each of the couple. As to the item, it can be a ring, a bracelet, a brooch, a pendant or a necklace. Rings and bracelets are favoured mostly by the military estate while ''commoners'' prefer brooches and pendants as more comfortable in everyday wear. They jewellery can be made of any materials, depending of the wealth and traditions - precious metals with gemstones, glass or porcelain ordered to a jeweller, or handmade items of wood, bone, clay, stone or seashells on a thread/leather string. I gave Lindana a handmade wooden pendant, most likely made by the hands of her fiance who wears the twin of it himself.
Engagement jewellery most often becomes the marriage one, only the richest people prefer to order another set for the wedding ceremony.
With regard to my opinion about marriage, it is in some points similar to yours one. I believe people should not marry unless they really love each other. Like you said, a true love is such a rarity nowadays, hence the big amount of divorces. From what I could notice, women more often insist on the marriage than men. Probably they feel more sure and safe then, with a kind of document that could defend them. Although of course no document alone is able to keep the heart and affection...
On the other hand I do not feel any annoyance thinking of the "wedding trinkets'' like you called them. I think, if people really love each other, if they are happy together, actually they would not mind (or may even want to) show their union to the world. Certainly, some people wear wedding rings to signify that they belong to each other, rather boasting by that fact (which I would rather not approve). While for other people it can be first of all symbol of their love for each other, reminding of the soul mate whenever he/she is not around - this point of view is close to me and this is how the most of people in Ydnel look at wedding jewellery.

Yes, I noticed the resemblance in appearance and character between Raisin and you, how you describe yourself .
Arrellin is indeed the character I made after myself, my personality, preferences and views (both of them, the new one for Ydnel world and the old one for Arrel, the first original character I ever created). There is a few characters sharing a lot of traits with me as well (especially Anne from "Book of Lives'''s second book), but I suppose like any other person creating characters, I give some or other part of my personality to the most of them.

DeeryDeerth In reply to Arrelline [2016-08-13 21:58:38 +0000 UTC]

The traditions of Ydnel are really interesting! I also like the colour associations for wedding colours and social groups in Ydnel! And the idea of having people wear their wedding costumes on special occasions later in life is really clever. I am always bothered out by how useless white wedding dresses become after the wedding is over. White is a very impractical colour, for it gets stained very easily. My Mother wore red to her wedding, but since her marriage also happened to end in a disaster, she didn't like the dress anymore. Thus, she gave it to me and I sewed a new dress out of it. But now I am just straying off the main topic again... what I meant to finish this paragraph off with that I really like how wedding dresses can also be festive clothes in your world!

As for the wedding jewellery... one for each of the couple makes sense, certainly. I like how wealthy people prefer rings and bracelets while "commoners" like brooches and pendants. It all makes sense and is well thought out. I also like the idea of handmade jewellery. In real life, I actually prefer wooden/bone/clay/stone/seashells with leather strings or threads on myself. It looks great in day-to-day life. I only wear shiny jewellery on festive occasions. But in Lindana's case... it is also very wonderful. I love jewellery that have emotional meanings. She would wear that wooden pendant made by her fiance with pride. I also understand why engagement jewellery also becomes the marriage one for "commoners"... I really enjoy reading how much you've thought about it all! Speaks a lot about your world, hehe!
I definitely agree with you. Most women seem rather insistent on marriage... but I would certainly not be that kind of woman. I know such behaviour could cause a lot of problems in the end, should feelings fade. Like you said - no document can keep affection. I do understand what you mean by showing unity to the world through wearing identical jewellery... but I'm really uncomfortable with rings and unfortunately, it's the most popular wedding symbol to recognise if anyone is married, at least nowadays. In the past, Estonian women used headdresses to show if they're single or married... and men wore their jackets a bit differently... but no one would recognise that any longer. It's kind of sad. I would love to wear a kind of a necklace to show that I'm married... I've always adored those halves of a heart and that kind of jewellery that will look complete only if two people are together. But there's a lot of prejudice against men when it comes to wearing necklaces... that is extremely sad as well. I'd love to live somewhere like Ydnel, where anyone would be allowed to wear any kind of jewellery and not be labeled with insulting titles. Masculinity seems like a big deal for some reason... and I know I don't want to include pink in the colour scheme of one of my possible future comics either, purely because that would denounce a big deal of the male audience, it would seem... the world is a strange and confusing place sometimes.

I also agree about creating characters. I model many of my characters after my own traits as well, but we discussed this one before as well, hehe. Arrellin is certainly a character to be well kept in mind, since she is the closest to your own personality and preferences. I'll definitely keep her in mind.
