Oh my goodness! A photomanipulation with a charmingly designed doll! I really, really love it. I must mention... lately, another favourite colour that I've developed is the colour red in exactly the shade of that dress. I love red roses, as well. All in all, this design really speaks to me. I adore it, a lot.

Thank you . I'm very glad that you like it.

It's always pleasant when other people like what you enjoy doing. For I do enjoy making photomanipulations - it gives me incredible feeling of freedom, like you can picture anything you want even if you don't really know how to draw. Still I managed to draw the dress entirely by myself - and enormously proud of the pleads .

You are very welcome! And I agree with everything you said - it's more than pleasant! I think your photomanipulations really are great, and if you enjoy doing it, by all means, continue! The dress is impressive, though. I still wonder how you can do that with a bare mouse. I use a tablet to do these kinds of things... mostly because I'm really clumsy with a mouse.

Thank you for compliments . You are very kind .

As to using mouse - well, the need had taught me . For I had to use what I have, so I had to learn to use mouse.

You are most welcome! And yeah... I guess needs can teach. But trust me, I tried drawing things with a mouse before... and it didn't turn out particularly well. There rose my need to buy a tablet and that's how I came to own one.

I definitely know what you mean. Real drawing with a mouse is an awful experience. For example for the life of me I would never managed to draw a good swirl with mouse (and that's considering myself being quite good at drawing spirals/swirls by hand... well, not very good probably but I enjoy it).
But drawing of shading with mouse is not so bad . Plus I found the way out for drawing of shapes in Photoshop - to create the base with shape tool (if you haven't forgotten yet) and then to draw shading/lightening on different layers over it (and make them clipping masks  - a double profit: the shading doesn't stray out the countures and yet I always can edit anything I don't like).
And the swirls can be drawn with path stroke...
Overall, taking into account that I don't really know how to draw, it's not so bad at all

Yes, I have to agree. The mouse simply isn't fit for independent drawing... I think. Although, some people are capable of drawing pretty amazing things with a mouse alone, too. But using a pencil or a stylus is just much more convenient and offers for better chances.
I understand what you mean by your shading with a mouse, though... if you put it that way, with your method, it might not even be that hard. I haven't forgotten most features of Photoshop, don't worry... it's just that I use another program to draw these days, mostly because it's easier and smoother. I might start using PS again at some point, though. I discovered the possibility of locking layers recently... and I can tell that it's quite the boost to shading. It might not work for the best in a more painterly style... but it depends on the drawing or image, too.

I'm still not entirely sure about you not being able to draw at all. I remember when you sketched down a dress figure... and then used PS to draw different designs on it. I think that was actually quite a neat idea, and I think you're able to draw a bit, at least.

I especially like the gathered skirt part that you've managed to make look translucent! So difficult to draw see-through materials by hand! The photoshop is soooo much better for those things!

Yes, I adore transparency! The possibility to play with opacity easily is one of the most precious to me in Photoshop.

I just changed it to slightly paler red, how is it looking now? Also i think to change  frills on her sleeves and neckline to lace.

I decided to review the design, added more semi-transparent fabrics, how it's looking now?
And what do you think about red gloves?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SpookvdOpera In reply to Arrelline [2015-06-21 17:32:16 +0000 UTC]

Oh wow, I think I like this even better! The transparent look is really suitable and more fitting for the masquerade gown. The red gloves looks pretty too, I guess if you make them dark you don't see them anymore.

Looking forward to see more changes especially with the mask

Arrelline In reply to SpookvdOpera [2015-06-21 19:36:38 +0000 UTC]

I adore anything with transparency, so I just couldn't resist . And I'm really proud of myself for this skirt. I proved to myself that I can make fluffy skirt look elegant .

Although honestly speaking I'm not so sure about the red gloves. I thought probably I should try and make them of black lace, because black colour will undoubtedly stand out against red. How do you find that idea?

What about the mask, it will resemble this one , but not as beautiful of course.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SpookvdOpera In reply to Arrelline [2015-06-21 22:25:27 +0000 UTC]

Yeah after some thinking I think black lace really stands out more then the red gloves. I'm always doubting about which colour the gloves should be, so far I thought about dark red, white, black and even a very dark green.

By the way I totally love the design you choosed for the mask I'm quite sure it will be beautyfull in your very own way!

I'd like to know how do you find this background.
You asked for a fountain in the park, but I wanted the manor to be in sight too...

I'm also going to add moonlight (for it can't stay as daytime scene).

And by the way, a couple of questions.

- What do you think about her mask?
- Should she wear any jewellery?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SpookvdOpera In reply to Arrelline [2015-06-27 21:15:21 +0000 UTC]

I absolutly adore the background of Phantom Manor and I'm really impressed with the fountain cause it really looks amazing, totally what I imagined! Yeah and moonlight fits perfect during that evening! I'm really curious how that turns out!

The mask looks splendid, keep it!
She does wear an small medaillion/necklace during the story which belonged to her deceased mother. Roxanne is an orphan/servant and so she doesn't have any jewellery...

My compliments again for your brilliant work, you are magnificent at this!

Here is a picture of stock I used to make the last picture , if you're interested. At least I find it interesting to compare what was at the start and what turned out in the end.

And if some day you would like to request anything else, I will be glad to make it .
