Description
My moms breeding stock paint gelding. This isn't even his good side - I'm going to have to get a better shot of his other side, with his long thick mane, zomg. Handsome boy. This pic taken last summer while he was at my place - it's crazy how fast his hair grows. Do any of you guys have horses with super crazy thick fast growing manes/tails? Do you pull it or let it go as it grows?(Also, see, I'm not dead!

Beautiful horse!!
My palomino stalion has the longest mane and tail and forelock, we let it grow but are thinking if pulling it.

Oh I should have taken a pic today when I was out there of how long it is now! It reaches halfway down between his eyes and his nose, a year after this pic was taken. Here's a better shot of him, around the same time that this one was snapped:

Taking care of a stallion must be challenging! My gelding keeps my hands full enough.

Yeah, taking care of a running horse farm is tough enough lol. Yeah we just pulled my stallions mane, but I like his tail long. But it look kinda funky with a short mane and a long tail. Lol

Sounds like you'll either have to bag his tail 24-7 or braid his mane constantly to hide it

Yeah so much work. I hate braiding.

Beautiful work as always Arristable One of the few only reasons I still come on dA since I don't really make pictures anymore is to look at your beautiful stuff <3

Aww, pretty boy. If this is the not-so-good side then I'd love to see the good side.
My boy has a pretty long tail, medium-ish thickness I guess--it can drag the ground but it does thin out by then. And his mane is thick and I WANT TO GRAB IT ALL THE TIME AHH
I miss him.

I've missed seeing your beautiful work around here! <3
What a lovely boy!
Unfortunately in my sport, we don't go for the long, think manes. Too hard to braid into little inch long button braids for the hunter ring! I do wish my boy grew more hair though; maybe then I wouldn't have had to purchase a 1lb tail extension for him!

Oh you have the little cute dos I purchased my gelding in early July and I'm hoping he had his mane pulled, otherwise he has a pretty thin (if still crimpy and pretty) mane. Doesn't match his tail though, since his tail is pretty full and long. Silly horses are silly. I bet that 1 lb extension was exciting to get in though!

It was very exciting to get, it actually helps balance our overall image together quite nicely. He has such a big compact build, the skimpy tail didn't help at all!

Oh my gosh he's huugggeee. My gelding is a .. OH I MISSED HIS BIRTHDAY, I'm a horrible horsey mom. He's officially a 15 year old breeding stock paint gelding, though he looks more like a Thoroughbred than anything else, has the longest back ever.
Oh well, my birthday is tomorrow, I'll have to take him out a piece of cake to make up for it.

He is a big boy!
Aww, yeah he's a good looking boy! I could see thoroughbred in him. Haha happy birthday Luke and happy early birthday Carol! I'm sure he'll be very forgiving when you show up with some cake!

First; Beautiful boy, even if this isn't his good side
Second; Yeah, I've got a mustang who's mane and tail grow like crazy weeds, his tail drags the ground and his mane is split so it grows thick on both sides. I used to buzz his mane every summer but it just kept growing black thicker, so now I just leave it alone XD

Craaazy! How old is your mustang? I swear I've seen some of the prettiest manes and tales on them, but I've never had the pleasure of working with one before.

He's nine years old now, and I've had him sense he was about seven months. He's an amazing animal and completely different then any domestic breed I've ever worked with. I think he's smarter then me to be honest >_>.
