A submission for the "Equine Dreams" contest, hosted by , in hopes to help out stocker .
Stock credits include:
for the horse.
for the man.
for the land and background water.
for some water.
for the sky and three different water images.
And my own stock; the fog brushes are uploaded as a pack to my account here. Others aren't, as I'm lazy enough to have not loaded them to dA.
Time spent on it, about 5 hours on and off. I actually had a lot of fun with this one, more than I thought I would have.

Stellar! I don't know how I missed this first-round through your gallery, but miss it I did (to my detriment!).
I feel like you should do more horse/human combos--your skills with each create different tones and combined you say much more than with one alone. And for me, at least, I find myself much more drawn to an image when a human is present or implied--it's a more instant hook. Then again, I've never spent enough time around horses to develop that connection; it's possible I wouldn't feel this way if I were more of an equinophile. Still, amazing overall. Thanks for sharing.

I absolutely love the colors, the background and man.... BUT THE HORSE IS MORE LIKE A PONY!!! I think something taller, more sturdy... Not a draft breed or anything... but not a pony... The guy looks dwarfedby the pony... ANYWHO, I LOVE IT STILL!!! I adore all your work, and this one is no exception! ^.^ I think it adds something to put in a human every now and then! ^.^

It's an arab, if I remember correctly. And besides, if it were a pony, maybe it just adds a little depth and uniqueness to the picture.

I just found a background that I liked (the double cliff from ~nachtswolf-stock ), then built the picture in around it. I wanted water in the foreground where it was land before, so I found five or six different pictures of waves crashing and blended them infront of the base of the cliff, then found a man and horse to match. Put in the moon, the sky, and some other images, and I was good to go after that.
As for tips, pick a color scheme. I wanted this one to be darker, yet still bright, so I went mostly with blues. Make sure the resolutions of the images are about the same, and make sure you can see everything clearly. Just take your time!
