Description Edit: Changed the cover of the brushes. I might edit it from time to time to update it, so let me know when you show me the picture (on here, not my front page/in a note) if you'd like me to see about showcasing it.

What are dynamic hairy brushes?
Well, simply put, they're able to work and flow with a tablet. They'll work ok with a mouse too, but as with all things in art life, tablets pwn mice.

Remember:
Play with them, don't just stamp. These are not designed for stamping and tralalaing - they're working brushes, ready to go with whatever you want.
Don't take sharp angles. Still working on how to get them to bend well with that... expect a pack #2 at some point with this problem solved.
Play with the brush settings. Some brushes are identical to another - its the settings that make all the difference.
Keep a natural hair flow when creating manes/tails/hair of any sort! Think of wind currents; zoom out to view the picture as a whole before zooming in to create hair.
Use a light hand with them!
Don't forget to use the individual brushes at the end to help "refine" the hair.

Now, I've never used these brushes - as with all my hairy brushes save for the ones used to create them - so I can't honestly say I really know how it'll turn out. Hopefully, though, it'll work out alright.

You might be saving them wrong. I use gimp 2.6.11 and it works perfectly with it. Do you have vista or windows.. Or?

I have photoshop 7 so the abr file doesn't work for me. I used the image pack and added the brushes by edit > define brush - but all they do is create dots - there's no flow. I've fiddled with the flow slider up top but it changes nothing. How do I get them to draw lines instead of dots? This is driving me insane. Please help... anyone. ^_^

Arylide In reply to Crystal-12 [2010-11-02 07:45:32 +0000 UTC]

Click ze download button under the fave thingy (which I encourage you to press too, lolz) and save the brushes in a place where you can remember. Right click on the save file and click 'extract' and use winzip or some similar extracting program to do the job. Once this is done, when you go into PS and click the arrow next to the brushes preview bar. A menu should pop up with 'Load Brushes' written somewhere in it. You click on the extracted file, and voila, there are the brushes to use.
