WARNING:I'm long winded.
Devised with CS2 and a Wacom tablet in mind.
REMEMBER: If the mane and tail look ugly here, it's because the original bg image isn't purple, but.. You know, not purple.
What looks blocky here flows there. You'd be surprised how often that actually happens, I think. Or maybe not!Or maybe I should stop rambling again.
Dedicated to everyone who has ever pestered me about making a tutorial on this, and to those who just want to know one simple way of doing it.
Here's hoping I didn't confuse anyone. lmao.

OK i get the tutorial and YAY i now actually have a tablet! Biggest query... how do you chose the shape of the tail, mane i'm getting but i really struggle with the tail

Uhm not impossible, I use gimp 2.6 and a mouse and check out my manes and tails

Impossible if you are using GIMP. A tablet is required because of pen pressure.

Thank you SO much for the tutorial. This appears to be VERY useful, I'm going to have my tablet soon, and I'll use the tutorial then. Hopefully it will work with Photoshop Cs4 Extended, lol.

love. i use brushes [used-cough- with gimp, but i got ps and a tablet, love!] and well, i got tired of crap, so i asked for a tablet. my lame[once, maybe not anymore!] dad got me one. this helped. so yweahhhh.

Well thats my problem. My pen pressure seems to fail:S No matter what i do, but if i press soft or hard, he can't see/feel the difference. So maybe i just need to reinstall the cd of my wacom-_-... don't know, but it just won't work.
I just love the tut, and i really want to work with it!

After discovering your hairy brushes,I've used them on all my manips(and you were credited,of course).
But my last few I've been brave enough to make them from scratch with your dynamic brushes...like on this one [link]

Ah thank you Arrsis!!! Just one thing, I don't know how to do the long continuous strokes of hair, I have tried using your enhancement brushes, how ever it doesn't keep going when I want it to...do you know what I mean? Instead of doing the long sweeps of hair that could be 2-3 inches long, it does like a half inch then stops. I feel so unintelligent. I'm also new to Photoshop...sooo, yeah. hehe.

Just invert the colors from black to white background, then make your own brushes out of it.
Otherwise, one of my Very Hairy brush packs has brushes like that included; I think it's #3, though I can't remember for certain.

I fiqured out how to transform your brushes that are made for Photoshop into a PaintShopPro friendly version. I was wondering if I could do a tutorial on how to make them work. I recenly added all of your tail brushes and those tiny dots into my brushes folder. I will be fine if you don't allow me to redistribute the brushes. This tutorial has helped so much it's amazing. Every question has been answered. I will use it in a few minutes for my next manipulation.
