        Dirk sighed softly as he looked out his window, seeing the storm clouds gather. He was hoping to hang out with you today but seeing as how the weather was being an asshole, it wouldn't be possible. He heard the familiar ping of someone messaging him. Dirk quickly went to his computer, hoping it was you. He let a small smile come across his face, seeing your chumhandle.
(chumhandle) began pestering timaeusTestified [TT]
(c/h): Hey Dirk. I cant hang out today.
TT: Yeah. I know. The weather is starting to look shitty.
(c/h): Huh? Oh. It is. But that's not why. Some other stuff came up and I don't feel comfortable leaving my house until it gets sorted out.
TT: What stuff came up? That sounds a little weird (y/n).
(c/h): I don't wanna talk about it Dirk. We can hang out tomorrow if the weather gets better.
TT: (y/n), what's wrong? You know you can tell me. I can keep a secret, if it is a secret.
(c/h): No. Its not a secret. Look ill tell you tomorrow okay? I have to go. Bye.

        Dirk read over your text a few times, wondering what stuff happened. He groaned annoyed and went to his bed and plopped down on it. First you two cant hang out, now you act all mysterious and sad. You were always so happy and full of life ever since he met you a few years ago. You were the one who could break his cool guy façade and make him laugh or smile and you were basically his best friend because of that. He couldn't forget the fact that he could tell you his secrets and you'd never tell anyone and vice versa. A smile came across his face when he remembered the last time you two hung out at the park.

        "DIIIIIIIIIIIIIRK!" You squealed out, as you tackle hugged the blond boy. He grunted but hugged you back , holding in a smile.
"You know, you can just give me a normal hug and avoid the weird looks from people" he said, looking at you as you pulled away. You shook your head, your (h/c) hair whipping around you. Your (e/c) eyes looked up at his shaded ones. "Where is the fun in normal hugs? So boring" you replied, a smile on your face. Before he could say anything, you gasped loudly and pointed at a vendor holding balloons. "Look. Balloon animals." You grabbed his hand and pulled him to the vendor. He got used to the constant hand grabbing after a while. The first few times you did it made him feel awkward since he wasn't used to it. Dirk had lost count of the hand grabs after fifty. Maybe this was the hundredth hand grab? Or one hundred and fiftieth? Whatever number it was, it still felt the same. Your soft, (s/c) hand pulling him along and his heart beating a little faster and him letting a smile come across his face.

                  The cool kid quickly sat up in his bed. Wait. Heart beating a little faster and a smile? He didn't think that through at the moment. Did he....... Did he like you more than a friend? Maybe it was that he was happy to see you. Dirk laid back down on his bed, trying to remember more of when you two were at the park.

                   You pulled Dirk to the balloon stand and stared up at all the balloons then looked at the vendor, who was busy making balloon animals. Dirk sighed and looked at you. "Do you want a balloon animal?" He asked, noticing you smiling widely at the animals. You quickly nodded and grabbed a (favorite animal) while Dirk paid for it. You hugged Dirk thankfully and gave the balloon a little squeeze as you two continued to walk through the park. The boy couldn't help but think your happiness over a balloon animal was cute. He sat down next to you when you plopped down on a bench. "Thanks a bunch for the animal" you said, looking at the animal before you looked at Dirk, who shrugged. "Its no problem (y/n). Anything for you." You smiled and blushed, turning your head away so he wouldn't see it. An elderly woman , however, saw it as she passed you two and stopped in front of you guys. She smiled at you then looked at Dirk. "I take it she's your girlfriend, young man?" Dirk chuckled a little and felt some blush spread on his cheeks. "No ma'am. We are just best friends." He glanced at you before he looked at the now frowning old woman. "Such a shame. You two would be cute together." She smiled before she slowly hobbled away. When the lady was gone and your blush cleared away, you looked at Dirk. "Well, that was weird. And..." you trailed off, shaking your head. Dirk raised an eyebrow at you. "And what?" You shook your head again. "Its nothing. Just thinking out loud." A frown came across the boys face. "Come on (y/n). You can tell me. Or do I need to get the information out of you." An evil smile came across his face. You sighed then quickly shoved the balloon animal in his face. "Distract him with your cuteness." You yelled out, as you ran off through the park while Dirk was left on the bench, pulling a balloon animal off his face. He sighed and stood up, racing after you. You knew you couldn't outrun the Strider but it felt fun to get on his nerves and get his curiosity at times. You stopped on some grass and flopped down on it, catching your breath. Closing your (e/c) eyes, you sighed a little tiredly. Dirk quietly walked towards you, wondering how he should get the information out of you.
        Your eyes quickly snapped open, feeling a heavy weight on you. "Damn it Dirk! Get off me." You squirmed underneath Dirk and he shook his head. "Nope. I'm being dead weight right now. Plus, you're pretty comfy. Maybe ill just lay here , even after you tell me what you were thinking."  You groaned and felt your face heating up. It turned ten times redder when Dirk placed his head on your shoulder and whispered to you, "Well? You willing to tell me yet?" You shook your head stubbornly and Dirk sighed. "You've left me no choice, (y/n)." Before you could stop him, he started to tickle you, a smirk appearing on his face. You giggled and attempted to stop him but you were a laughing mess right now. "O-Okay. Stop. Ill tell you. No more tickles." Dirk stopped and then went back to being dead weight while you sighed. "Fine. I just thought it was cute that the old lady thought we were a couple and all. Will you get off me now?" Dirk smiled and shook his head. "I thought it was cute too but no. You are really comfy." He started to fake snore and you sighed again. You smiled , seeing Dirks phone hanging out of his pocket. You quickly grabbed it and turned your head a little towards him. "Well, since you're asleep, I'm sure you wont mind me pestering Roxy and confessing your love for her." Dirks eyes quickly opened and you giggled. "Here I go" You started to pester Roxy until Dirk grabbed his phone out of your hand. "Fine. Ill get up." He got off you and pocketed his phone before he laid beside you. You two began to look at the clouds until you felt your phone buzz, alerting you of a message. You quickly read it and sat up. "I got to go. My mom wants me home so we can go see my grandma." Dirk nodded and stood up. "Alright. Do you want me to walk you home?" You stood up, shaking your head. "Nah. My moms probably going to pick me up anyway." You turned your head, hearing the familiar honk of a car horn. Dirk hugged you goodbye and you walked to where the car was. He sighed sadly, watching you walk away and turned to go home.

        "Well. That settles it." Dirk said out loud. He had a crush on you. A big one. 'Ill tell her tomorrow. Maybe over a romantic lunch. No. She wouldn't like that that much. Fuck. How do I tell her?' Dirk groaned. 'I'm overthinking this. Ill just tell her and she'll have a chance to tell me if she likes me back.' He stared up at his ceiling, and kept thinking. Thinking about you and if you'd reject him or say you felt the same way, about how to tell you, and how everything would go down after the confession. Dirk grunted and stood up, pacing around his room, looking for something to get his mind off of you. 'Maybe ill build another robot. No. I need more parts. Maybe talk to someone.' He looked at his computer and shook his head. 'No. Because ill want to talk to (y/n)'. He groaned and looked towards his room door. 'A walk could help me get my thoughts straight.' He left his room and walked to his front door, glad his bro wasn't home to ask him where he was going.
        The scent of rain was a lot more noticeable and the clouds were getting darker. That didn't stop Dirk as he wandered around aimlessly. Or at least, he thought it was aimlessly. Unknown to him, he was walking to your house. He kept his head down, trying to clear his thoughts, until he felt something cold and wet hit the back of his neck. 'Great. Now its raining. And its cold rain for that matter.' He lifted his head to stop the rain from hitting his neck. The rain continued to fall as he walked. What Dirk thought would be a light rain turned into a cold downpour. He shivered and looked around. 'This isn't far from (y/n) house. Ill drop by and see how she is.' Dirk started to walk to your house, getting drenched from the rain. He shivered a little but continued to walk, stopping for a few seconds to wipe the rain from his face and eyes. A sigh escaped his lips as he saw your house. The family car wasn't in the driveway but the living room light was on. Dirk shrugged and walked quickly to your front door and knocked on it. You opened it then looked at the boy in shock. "Dirk? What are you doing here?" He shrugged again. "Just creepily standing around and letting the rain drench me. You know, the usual." You stepped aside and he walked in. "Stay here. Ill go get you a towel or two." He watched you turn and leave to the bathroom. You were dressed in a (f/c) dress and had black tights on. He looked slightly confused. 'She rarely wears dresses unless its for something big or important. Wonder what it is.'
        You came back a minute later, holding some towels of varying color. You handed two to Dirk and placed the remaining three along the couch so he could sit down. You hurriedly sat down to the end of the couch and every so often glanced at a phone on the table next to the couch. Dirk sat down and sighed. "Alright, (y/n). What's wrong with you?" You turned to look at him, your (e/c) eyes full of worry. Sighing, you realized it was best to tell Dirk. Your voice was shaky as you said, "My grandma... She's gotten sicker. A few weeks ago, we found out her chemotherapy isn't helping anymore. Her stomach cancer's getting worse." Dirk silently scooted next to you and pulled you into a reassuring hug. You gripped his shirt tightly and buried your face in his chest, not caring he was damp and cold. "She's in the hospital now and my parents are there. They don't want me to see my grandma like that." You gulped but couldn't hold in the tears anymore. You started to cry while Dirk petted your hair comfortingly. He sighed and nodded. "She'll get better , (y/n). I know she will. And when you go to visit her, it'll make her happy seeing you look so beautiful." You blushed and nodded slightly as you pulled away. You wiped the tears off your face and looked at Dirk when he sighed deeply. "Look. I have something to tell you. I think it might make you feel better." You looked at your best friend confused. "Well, what is it? Is your brother putting out another movie." "No. Well, yes. He is putting out another movie but that's not it. I've been thinking some things through and well......." He sighed again then looked at you. "I like you more than a friend and I think its love since I've felt this way for quite sometime now." Dirk looked away, his heart beating faster. Your face turned a dark red and you were silent with shock. Dirk shook his head. "If you don't feel the same way, then I don't mind being friends. I just wanted to tell you."
        A few seconds of awkward silence passed until you spoke finally, your voice almost a whisper, "Dirk. I've liked you for a long time but I was too shy to tell you." His head turned to look at your smiling face. He pulled you towards him and kissed you, his lips in a smile. You stayed still for a second, stunned by the kiss but leaned into it happily. He pulled away after a few seconds and hugged you. You placed your head on his chest and looked up at him. Getting curious, your hand reached up and gently pulled the pointy shades off his face. He allowed you to, trusting you completely and you looked at his orange eyes. You smiled, placing a warm hand on his face. "Your eyes are beautiful. You aren't going to cover them up when I'm around, are you?" You looked up at him, giving him puppy dog eyes. He laughed and placed a kiss on your forehead. "Of course not. They don't let me see how pretty your eyes are either." You giggled and smiled up at him before you snuggled closer to him, listening to his heartbeat and being lulled to sleep by it. You yawned and wrapped your arms around him. Dirk chuckled and petted your hair. "Take a nap (y/n). Ill be here to protect you from anything." You smiled tiredly and closed your eyes,mumbling out "I love you Dirk" before you fell asleep. Dirk smiled and kissed the top of your head. "I love you too."
