Description
The stamp says it all. You got the message now ?EDIT ::
OKAY PEOPLE. FIRST.
When I used the "I" in the stamp, I din't meant "me" "arsenicsama" but "me" "the one who'll use the stamp". I THOUGHT it was OBVIOUS.....
+ I'm not posting that stamp because I'm jealous of Kishimoto and others. I'M JUST SAYING THAT ORIGINAL STUFF SHOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED LESS VALUABLE THAN FANDOM STUFF. Geez, Naruto and stuff... they are like commercial products. Just browse a bit around deviantART if you dare.
+ OH REALLY POSTING THAT STAMP MAKES ME ASKING YOU TO WORSHIP MY STUFF? Where is it written? I MEAN EVERYBODY'S ORIGINAL STUFF SHOULD BE MORE APRECIATED. I know other artists that are, like me, not much of a fanart-maker that have the SAME frustrations.
+ And YEAH. I'm a lil' frustrated to see that all my popular deviations are FANARTS... and mature deviation. I bet this is the same for other artists. WHAT ABOUT ALL THE ORIGINAL IDEAS WE LOVE AND ALL THE STUFF WE CREATE ON OUR OWN? Garbage? One fav? No comments? But I'm drawing a famous character and that's crazy.
WTF. C'MON.
I'm not AGAINST FANARTS. I like them. BUT PLEASE. GIVE ORIGINAL STUFF MORE CONSIDERATION.
You don't like my opinion? Don't use that stamp.

I feel like it's ok to like fan art, I just think OCs need more love.

Ikr? one of my ocs, who's covered almost from head to toe with tiny little scales (and I draw each one of them, one by one), will always gets less attention then, say, my most "meh" sketches of crashman (megaman) and ed elric (fma)

That is why I disable comments on my most popular fan art works. Sure that wont stop them for being faved (unless Β storage them) but at least maybe they'll be force to comment on something else. Key word: Maybe. XD
But great minds think alike. Thank you for this. C: Everyone is so single minded.

Yeah, I just hate when I see such amazing drawings in someone's gallery, most of them are original but they never get the praise they deserve... But If that drawing would have a pony or some random anime character... BAM! It gets 1000+ favs and 100 comments! don't get me wrong, I love MLP, I also love anime, but original artwork inspires me more, I enjoy seeing original characters, or many different styles. Some people need to learn that not everything is going to be about their favorite fandoms...

That's my gallery in a nutshell, sadly. I have all kinds of OCs that I worked hard to create (some of them I made up years and years ago in 4th grade, as a matter of fact) and they get very little mention. My fanart always gets the attention, regardless of what it is (even if it's for one of those direct-to-video movies nobody watches anymore).
I think it's because a lot of my OCs are drawn in a toonier style and everyone likes anime. That, or the fact that they tend to be more goofy-looking than sexy (very rarely do I create a sexy OC), have difficult-to-pronounce names from old dead languages, and many of them even have skin or hair in any color of the spectrum. (Blue, green, or purple, after normal flesh tones, are the most common skin colors among my OCs, and a lot of them have hair colors not found in nature.)
Last I checked, these attributes (with the possible exception of the weird hair colors) don't equal popularity points when it comes to OC creation. Most people like sexy anime OCs and stuff. It truly is sad...

I like this stamp very much. Its so true.
People should stop using their heads for "copy - paste" and start using their imagination or once. I have over 54 Original characters and I love them all more than any anime dude. They are very special to me and many people started liking them as well.
The only thing that really makes me sad is when people tell me "OMG you stole this from anime blablabla" Im always like "What? I never knew there was an anime like that!" XD I hate when this happens. It just hurts a bit that people think that.
Ok too much typing nevermind. xD
Now Im not saying that I dont like fan-art. (Well I DO hate fan-art created on those BASE models thata true. )
But randomly Fan-art is great. Its like showing the person who created the characters, even if they are for commertial use that you love them. Its sharing love in a way.
But I still think that Original characters are better. They tell us about the autor very much. And when you have a bond with your OC. (Like most autors do). In time you wont be drawing them, they just sort of will happen. xD

I prefer OCs because you made them all up. It's 100% from your imagination, thus from your soul. I DO love fanarts as well, but as long as you can see that the artist used some of it's own inspiration. I would favor a fanart made in a own artist's style, somebody that wanted to do a kind of a tribute of a character he or she particularly like. What I don't like is fanart that are copies of the originals or massive fanart doing in hope of fame. It's like taking adventage of those mainstreem characters or series to get your share as they are becoming marketable goods. It's not just art anymore, it's a form of capitalism.
As, as an answer to those ANNOYING people that dares to tell you that your OCs are copies or existing whatsover anime characters, well, i'd say that there's no copyright on an hairstyle or an eye color, nor there is a copyright on the way you draw. Inspiration in fact is everywhere, and if we start counting a comparing every single characters in every single anime/manga/comic/serie that is known (we are not even into the work or more modest artists) we're not done until 2012.
We need not to forget that before becoming a super popular hyper selling "good", even Naruto was it's creator OC as well. But well, usually people goes onto what they know already instead of going deeper in the meaning of art.
I think that anime art lacks a bit of originality sometimes... well this is what appears in the mainstreem. We should be proud to love what we do love, indeed, but also we should be proud to be creative as well.
And no, a drawing of Naruto looking right like a sreenshot of the anime does NOT deserve front page for me.
Sorry for the long reply! You got my fired up here buddy

I totally agree with this.
Most of my art is original art and it's receiving no attention And what pisses me off is that not even the fan art I do is getting attention .3. But I still prefer original art rather than fan art.
