Description The stamp says it all. You got the message now ?

EDIT ::

OKAY PEOPLE. FIRST.

When I used the "I" in the stamp, I din't meant "me" "arsenicsama" but "me" "the one who'll use the stamp". I THOUGHT it was OBVIOUS.....

+ I'm not posting that stamp because I'm jealous of Kishimoto and others. I'M JUST SAYING THAT ORIGINAL STUFF SHOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED LESS VALUABLE THAN FANDOM STUFF. Geez, Naruto and stuff... they are like commercial products. Just browse a bit around deviantART if you dare.

+ OH REALLY POSTING THAT STAMP MAKES ME ASKING YOU TO WORSHIP MY STUFF? Where is it written? I MEAN EVERYBODY'S ORIGINAL STUFF SHOULD BE MORE APRECIATED. I know other artists that are, like me, not much of a fanart-maker that have the SAME frustrations.

+ And YEAH. I'm a lil' frustrated to see that all my popular deviations are FANARTS... and mature deviation. I bet this is the same for other artists. WHAT ABOUT ALL THE ORIGINAL IDEAS WE LOVE AND ALL THE STUFF WE CREATE ON OUR OWN? Garbage? One fav? No comments? But I'm drawing a famous character and that's crazy.

WTF. C'MON.

I'm not AGAINST FANARTS. I like them. BUT PLEASE. GIVE ORIGINAL STUFF MORE CONSIDERATION.

You don't like my opinion? Don't use that stamp.

Same for me.

But I still think that there's too much fuzz, sometimes, over fanarts and fanarts only artists. My opinion.

I know. I actually get irritated myself over how really rubbish artists get all the attention just for doing fanart while those with real talent go unoticed just because they made something that didn't involve Pokemon or Bleach.

I can understand both viewpoints. I find myself more likely to look at a picture that has Vaati or Byrne from the Legend of Zelda than a picture of someone I've never even heard of. Sometimes. It's all a matter of what piques my interest. But I understand how frustrating it is when you get a ton of comments on a piece of fan art that took only about a half hour to make whilst a picture of one of your OCs that you poured your sweat and blood into drawing gets no faves or comments. Actually, I made a stamp similar to this about how OCs are only really appreciated by their original owner. [link]

My point is... that sometimes, and very sadly, only fanarts seemed to matter. I don't understand (and absolutely don't support) artists who are famous only because they specialise in doing fanarts that looks like the real thing. Great, you got skills in immitating Naruto's anime style and your dogital art looks like screenshot. I don't see what is self-rewarding here. You might get tons of compliment but inside you know what you did is just not as valuable as something you would have done from scratch.

People are sometimes working hard on their own ideas. Some of those people would love to make it a career and are using devianart to share, look around, pratice and showing they progress. I don't hate fanarts, I love going around sometimes and fanarting. But I would rather prefer a decent fanart of a character done in an original style. I think that it's more valuable. Because it's not just thecnique, it's not just being good at drawing lines, it's also imbued with the artist's soul.

I am very very passionate about art.

I agree, my OCs are my babies too.

Sometimes I just wish general people were less narrow minded and stuff being a little more deep. We are humans with deep strong emotions and various layers of personalities, emotions and beliefs. Why would we reject that in art? (It sounds like I'm going to an extreme here but this is just how I honesty feel.)

Thank you lots for sharing your point of view

I won't get into a huge discussion about it here but hey. Fanarts ARE nice, but the point here is I feel that sometimes, original art is not seen enough.

Thanks for the comment.

Thanks for this stamp^^ I do love doing fanart, but I love doing my characters even more! One time I did a Kingdom Hearts fanart and I had some faves and comments. But, when I do one of my characters, it's like "whatever..." I get some notice when I submit it in some clubs, but what about when I'm not submitting in clubs? sigh.... idk. I agree with you though^^

About.... 80% of my art is original~ Most fanarts are doodles or requests.

Yeah...I don't do fanart. I'm really not a fan of much to draw anyway. However, it does suck when something I worked on for a while only gets ten pageviews.

Seriously, the thing that got the most faves in my gallery was a quick 5-minute "Shoop da Whoop" edit of some dumb Lucky Star scene. It was just to tick my sister off because she likes Lucky Star. XD

At least the deviation that got the most views for me was something original...

ArsenicsamA In reply to TheSpottedfur [2009-11-18 14:17:08 +0000 UTC]

OMG.... seriously. Where goes deviantART? Sorry if I sound like a bitch right now but... I really think that poeple should try to go deeper in art. There are real artist doing real original stuff they got inspired too... but most poeple don't seemed to even bother looking deeper and they stop at the surface.

I've looked at your gallery. You do interesting stuff, I like it. =3

And I really like your pixelart avatar =3

Oh, this is co true...

When I draw one of my characters, unless it's ecchi, the drawing will just have a few faves, but if I draw Naruto fanarts, the drawing has lots of views and faves!

Sigh, I wish people would appreciate more the original art than the fan art...

HelenaHelenova [2009-07-14 17:07:37 +0000 UTC]

Wow, speaking to my soul.

It's sad, but I will admit that I tend to only draw fanart because I know it's the only way people are going to look at my stuff, that's the way it seems. The few attempts that I've made at my OCs have failed, and I feel like it's a waste of time to put so much love and effort into a character and no one out there gives a shit. I will say, though, that the fanart I've drawn is for myself and my own personal interests. I'm not selling out, I don't think, because I'm not really drawing it for the popularity, I'm drawing it because I love it.

Then again, you have these devartists who are known for whoring out said anime fandoms, and they gain popularity that way, and then, when they do put there OC out there, suddenly everyone in the world gives a shit.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ArsenicsamA In reply to HelenaHelenova [2009-07-17 22:22:59 +0000 UTC]

So true.

But there's still a few artost like me that are trying their best to support original art from original artists. Maybe I do fav some fanarts sometimes, but I'm trying to look at the stuff poeple create themselves. Maybe I'm a bit of a fanart-hater, I don't know... but, I mean, original stuff it's something more. When you create the design, the character itself, its personality... it's even more valuable to you yourself to have favs and views on that piece of art than on a fanart you did because you liked some super-popular anime character. The feeling... it's not the same.

Thank you for your opinion. I really apreciate reading here and there that I'm not the only one thinking that way.

Have a nice summer

SilverBellsAbove [2009-06-24 23:15:28 +0000 UTC]

I think this goes for not only original art but fanart that goes far enough away from the fandom to make a statement.

Sure, draw Naruto.

But maybe use a different style, or shading technique, or even mix and match artist styles. Maybe you can use exaggerated foreshortening or do things from a different point of view. If it gets someone thinking about the fandom they take for granted, then I think it is immediately more valuable than traced-artwork or just generic stuff.

But still, I just think that.. there's too much.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SilverBellsAbove In reply to ArsenicsamA [2009-06-25 01:25:13 +0000 UTC]

I know.

I do draw fanart. But it's mostly in-jokes, boredom doodles, and illustrations for (my and other people's) fan FICTION.

I'm a character concept artist-- I draw OCs, fan characters, and renditions of canon characters not really in composition but for concept.

But yes. There is too darn much Naruto floating around. If you're going to draw a ninja, unless you're illustrating YOUR OWN scene or something, why not make it your own ninja? O_o

I don't get people.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ArsenicsamA In reply to SilverBellsAbove [2009-06-25 01:36:54 +0000 UTC]

I just don't get popular artists that are only doing fanarts... sometimes their own styles are just a copy of the anime style of popular series... really.

I really do prefer fanart other people OCs if I get to do a fanart.

And I need to admit that sometimes I find frustrating that my most popular deviations are ugly drawing I did years ago... but they are seen because they are mostly Naruto fanarts. I love that serie, really. I'm just tired to see opnly fanart. Art is not only fanarts.

People search for what they like. Some people collect fandom-- I do.

But good browsers, if they see something really cool, they'll check out the rest of the gallery.

Eh. It's just that most people are not good browsers. *goes to check out your gallery for the sake of interest*
