I'm trying to understand exactly how you managed to do those icons on the left side of the articles.
More precisely, how exactly do you make them change depending on the article's category?
I'm trying to replicate this idea on a new theme that I'm working on, so your help would be highly appreciated.

Sorry for the late reply. It's not exactly hard but takes a few hacks in the Wordpress post loop. I've assigned special categories for different content and used a conditional to check if a post belongs into those categories. If it does, the code is slightly different. If you want some in-depth guide you can send me a message.

Oh wow that's looking pretty sharp there!
Very nice layout and design. Very often people over do it and it becomes a hard to navigate eyesore but you managed to put in enough visual interest without it becoming too overwhelming. I love the bird's text balloon too, is that twitter?
