I have a thing with layers, so I think it's cool to play with that idea. I like how x-rays and scans inform us of whats beneath the facade. But my interest is not just in the human form, I dig how a wall can decay and weather, transforming over time. Even how a piece of fruit can rot and wither. I often take opposing subjects like portraiture and floral patterns and overlap and interweave them as though they are blending as one.

that's pretty deep. dunno if I should apologize for asking, if this is too personal a question, but... where did that start? is it just an interest, or was there some personal experience, feeling, etc. that budded your interest in the subjects of your art?

It's just something that interests me. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't keep a bowl of rotting fruit in my house. It's just about finding beauty by looking at things from a different perspective to the norm. Francis Bacon found the beauty in animal carcasses. I try to interpret things that I find interesting in my own personal style. I don't really question why subjects interest me, I just go with it. If I over think things the work becomes stale.

I admire your way of thinking. That's one of my biggest flaws. I overthink and my work grows dull and lifeless. figuratively not literally. I.E. Francis Bacon and the animal carcasses. Have you always thought like that? To just go with it and trust your style?
