thanks for this. It helped me somehow because I really don't know anything about printing. The images which shows the resolution and sizes are small though. Anyway, thank you.

soo if we send it to a print place... this is what we do? and we should keep it the same size as 4.75 x 4.175...when i did it your way the size didnt change but it now says the inches are 1.14 x 1.13 is this correct?
btw thanks for the tutorial!!

"If" I understood properly (you're simply changing the dpi to print resolution without changing the number of pixels, and thus changing the inch dimensions) you can simply uncheck the box next to Resample Image. That'll lock the pixel dimensions. Then you can change the pixels/inch resolution and it'll automatically change the inch dimensions for you.
At least, this is the case in Photoshop 7.
On the other hand, if I completely misread what you're doing, feel free to ignore ^^

Well the most important lesson is obviusly to make it print size from the start..

or maybe not - it won't work!
The default image size width is in Cm, but i change this to inches as used in your tut, and follow the rest of the steps, but it makes the damn thing smaller - i need it to go A3! What's going on?

Yeah, sometimes an image will get smaller. I'm not sure why exactly. All I know is what I was taught, which is what I put into the tut. Yes, an image may get smaller, but the result is still the exact same: it doesn't lose its details when it is printed out. I have no idea how to make it bigger without losing the details. Sorry.

oh wow, thanks so much. you have saved my art course. i need to print off a massive A3 vector and it wasn't coming out sharp at all! this is exactly what i needed, for sure.

this is really helpful! thanks!
on the presentation:
if you'd like to make your tut even better, i'd suggest you don't scale the screenshots down. i cant read a thing thats in those boxes and it would be easier to follow if i could (especially for newbies )
and i would use another font - tahoma or verdana for example have been designed especially for pc-reading. try it, you'll see what i mean
but the idea and the explanation is good!
keep it up!

Thanks very much for your suggestions! Yeah, I was disappointed when I saw that the screen shots weren't big enough. I was afraid that that might happen, which is why I wrote down the numbers in the tutorial to be on the safe side.
Thanks again for the input!

glad you didnt take it the wrong way
just see to it that they're big enough next time (let the text flow to the left or right if you dont want them to take up too much space) and you will be alright! hope to read more from you!
