This only depends on how... efficient... the jedi is in combat. Does he use the force in combat, or just his lightsaber? Does he apply his abilities well?
If the jedi just fought using "typical" jedi abilities, it may be a relatively close fight. But if they were a bit more... extreme (lightning, throwing MC, crushing MC, strangling MC, hold MC still and cut him up, etc. etc....)... Yeah. MC might put up a fight, but he'd lose.

ummm i understand that the energy sword is seen at an angle but the blades should be parallel on the inside

This one would be hard to call. The Jedi would have the obvious advantage of the force, but Spartans have have ballistic weapons or slugthrowers in the star wars universe. Which can not be blocked by a light saber and do to the fact that their seldom encountered in the star wars universe a Jedi probably wouldn't now how to counter them very well. Their about matched up on the physical plane as Spartans have augmentations but Jedi have the force. In a sword fight the Jedi would win as the would be superior swordsmen to Spartans plus a light saber would be more wieldy for a human then an energy sword. If weir talking a strait up clash between a spartan with his armor and an energy sword and a Jedi and his light saber and the force ability generally employed by a Jedi, than as a huge fan of both halo and star wars I have to say the Jedi would win. If we bring guns, AI's, Jedi armor, more unorthodox Jedi force powers like moricho (look it up it's reel) and force lightning, and blasters or even vehicles and allies. It can honestly be said it would take us all putting our heads together for a few months to come to any sensible conclusion.

Spartan II + Any gun that fire bullets = Dead Jedi.
Honestly with the new 3d Clone Wars series I've lost all almost all respect for Star Wars with the exception of the 2d Clone Wars and the original trilogy.
Speaking of which, droids should be able to kill Jedi. Think about it, the droids talk to each other, all aim at a different part of the Jedi's body, and fire at once. The Jedi can't block all those shots at once.

SPARTAN-II candidates only trained for six years, not 12 years. They began training by six years old, then graduating as Spartan (receiving surgical/chemical augmentations) by they're 12 years old. Reason to do that because 12 year old is at peak of achieving puberty which it allows the body to grow much mature which it means that with puberty active, with additions of augmentations, making their bones, muscles, vision, etc EVEN more powerful than before it has been. SPARTAN-III program's training method is much more drastically shorter due to Kurt-051 able to utilize better training methods without wasting valuable time as learning lessons from their perspective missions such as at OPERATION: PROMETHEUS, TORPEDO and several missions. Also, genetic requirements in SPARTAN-IIIs are much different, allowing them to recruit/kidnap/convince kids ranging from 6 to 12 years old instead of SPARTAN-II's strict age of 6 to 8.

In a situation like this the Jedi will need to use only Force powers as the Light Saber (pending if the "difficulty in books/comics are TRULY on Normal Difficulty in the games) it might bounce off the shields or (if they're lucky) just take them out. Once a Spartan is close enough to a Jedi (almost any jedi namely humanoids) it's all over. Another thing they say Light Sabers can't deflect bullets, this fact is untrue as the plasma-like saber can simply melt them or cause an explosive reaction (like sparks) but too many bullets is too difficult to stop (even for Yoda) even with the Force. But the Spartan's flaw is production. Though training is nearly life long (like 12 years for S-2 and 6 years for S-3) while Jedi are still numerous (before and after the "Dark Times" of Palpatine. So really it's an even fight.

It depends on which the side has any advantages. Spartans are super soliders, they are more powerful than humans, and are par on with Elites. Plus, UNSC military force is much larger than clones proposed by this jedis. Proof is in the books. And, I understand, that MAC round can eliminate the shields, depending on velocity, speed, force and peneration. For instance, Super-MAC rounds (ODP) uses Tungsten or depleted uranium and nearly weights 3,000 tons, can go fast as 50% of light-speed, would be about 170,000 km per second. It is one-hit kill for any ships known to UNSC and to covenants as well. In theoretically, it can do serious damage to SSD, if it gets hit by Super MACs. Imagine, a SSD arrives at Earth, where nearly 300 ODPs are operational. Do you expect that SSD can survive? And, UNSC has a prototype weapon that would rival Death Star: Nova Bomb. I think in Halo: Ghosts of Onyx, it said that a admiral used NOVA to wipe out a outpost (a entire planet) in covenant territory.

Oh ya the only NOVA prototype was detonated on reach when the Covenant took the planet, as mentioned in HALO: FIRST STRIKE. and since the planet wasn't destroyed it apparently wasn't the "Planet cracker," it was planed to be.

whether or not a MAC is a one shot one kill is disputed as in HALO THE FALL OF REACH and HALO EVOLUTIONS: THE BIOGRAPHY OF J.P. COLE covenant ships weir hit with MAC's and survived. Militarily the are ether equal or more likely the Republic had the bigger military as they weir fighting a war on a larger scale,and on equal terms so the probably could tern out more military hardware or at lest just as much. Troops where obviously easier to come by as the Republic used clones and of course the technological superiority enjoyed by the republic.

Since he's fighting a Jedi he might win, they aren't big "kill the enemy" people, and they're pretty fair. Had it been a Sith, ol' MC here wouldn't last 10 minutes. That's probably as long as a Spartan can hold their breath. Sith just fight dirty.

It depends. If it's the Rebels at the end of Episode 6, Luke is pretty much the only Jedi, and if he somehow magically managed to kill MC, refer to Sonic's post. If it's the Empire at nearly any point in time (they were still a really massive force in the galaxy at the end of Episode 6. Their leaders were killed and their super weapon was destroyed. Would that really stop anyone for good?) Bigger army and they have Sith, and Sith fight dirty.

a jedi simply wouldn't let master chief come close, especially not if he was only using a sword-whhose-name-I-forget. He'd just keep using force push to keep MC at a distance and throw his lightsaber *shrug* Or, just force-push him off a cliff, or throw boulders at him or something. One-on-One, a jedi would win. They'd win pretty much any fight one-on-one, come to think of it. They're just designed to win, to be massive mary sues. Obviously MC is too, but the way a jedi works, keeping enemies away, would simply allow the jedi to win with no effort at all. Anyway, even if he wasn't doing that the jedi would just use a mind trick to make MC think he was a spartan too or something.

MC would win because Light-side Jedi's aren't effective in modern combat. Now, if you were going with a Dark Sider, then the Jedi would win hands down. Quite simply, the Dark Sider would sever MC's spinal column with the Force. End of battle.

Technically neither would win. The UNSC would probably respond to the dark side with an MAC strick, and a couple pelican loads of Warthogs, Scorpions, and Marines.

Pff that all?.. Since this is a Jedi then the Galactic Republic would send in a superiour force of Venator Star Destroyers which would rip apart your MAC cannon using ships in a second. While ARC-170 and V-19 starfighters destroy the slow moving Pelicans. Or if the Marines,Scorpions and Warthogs are landed on the planet against the Jedi, we could then send down an Acclamator Mark 1 assualt ship which can not only destroy the UNSC ships with MAC cannons in seconds but land entire Clone Army into battle which destroy your crappy UNSC army. To explain an Acclamator Mark 1 assualt ship has 12 Quad Turbolaser Turrets,24 Point-Defense Turbolaser cannons and 4 proton torpo tubes. While the army it carries comes into battle with 16,000 Clone Troopers,80 LAAT Gunships,48 AT-TE Walkers,156+ V-19 starfighters and hundreds of TX-130 Fighter tanks and AT-XT walkers. This is just one ship by the way... Halo has nothing to stop it!

And, depending on the Era, either an army of Jedi/Sith would respond, or a trained army of clones. SO MANY CLONES! WHERE'S YOUR UNSC NOW!?
But seriously, if we're talking Empire, the UNSC should just sit and hope they're content with killing a Spartan. Three words: Super Star Destroyer. And do you think anything humans created would be able to take out a Death Star? WE DON'T HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY! WE CAN'T REBUILD HIM!

If you want to do it right, keep in mind the technology in the Star Wars Universe would be epic by now. All movies and I assume all books took place a long time ago (in a galaxy far, far away). Halo takes place in our future.

True, but it seems that certain electrical feilds can negate force energy, i.e. when mace Windu deflected force lightening off the light saber's blade-containment-feild. Is it possible that the Cheif's energy sheild might provide limited protection?
