Description
This is kind of a preview for the next page, but I randomly wanted to make a walkthrough of how I make each panel. I'll let the picture speak for itself!Related content

just reading your comments on the Wacom - i have recently got one, and although i am yet to really try it properly (i'm too scared!) i have noticed that the nib is being worn quite a bit, i have some replacement ones that came with it, but i am worried i may be pressing too hard or wearing it down too much/too fast. is this normal?

I use the clearish nib, and that one really lasts. If it's just showing a little slope where you press on it the most, that should be fine. You can adjust the pressure sensitivity depending on what you need (I usually keep the slider pretty far towards Firm).

omg i SO wish i vould have followed that more easily! it looked so simple, but you know i will never get the hang of it.
you did it very well though, i adore the image itself and cannot wait for the finished panels! um - one question (just one) In Step 3 i didn't understand what you did with the Fill layer/Solid thing. did you literally colour/paint/ink things with block dark grey? or is it more complex than that? sorry if i am being dense

Np, it wasn't super clear. After I had hand-ink the sketch, I make a selection around the lineart and use the fill tool (on a layer underneath the lines) to get the solid gray. I change the tone of the gray just to fit with the original value sketch. Hope that helped! (and feel free to keep asking if it didn't)

Would you have any kind of graphics tablet that you would recommend?

I've only ever used the Wacom Intuos 3, and it's served me faithfully for about...3 years now.

I can't believe you put so much effort into just one panel. It must take ages to complete one page!
Very useful tut anyways!

Well, I'm getting faster. I do one step for all of the panels before moving on to the next step, so I'm actually nearly done with the page. But yes...I sacrifice speed for quality, and I'd have it no other way.
Thanks!
