Description "They seem sad... like trees in November.

'There's something unnatural and evil and twisted about this place. It feels... it feels like mist, like being deceived, and losing our way."

Watership Down~

Story belongs to Richard Adams; film belongs to Nepenthe Productions. I own only the artwork.

Crap excuse for fanart. :<
Done with watercolour pencils and some kind of writing pen. Edited colours in Gimp.

Beautiful book, a timeless classic for all ages. And hurray for realistic rabbits! Just the little details on their faces or the leaves on the ground is very well done.

Definitely x3 I was able to get a hold of the book just recently, and I'm glad for it. The movie is also one of my faves. Thanks XD It was tricky. I'm glad you like it ^^

I read the book many moons ago, in one day and night OvO It's such a remarkable telling of the life of rabbits in the fictional sense and inspired many of my ocs culture bases. I know hatching is tricky to do, especially with animal textures (fur, scales)

Have you ever heard of Plague dogs? It's not as well known but it was written by the same author, but I only saw the movie. It's just as beautiful and heart wrenching

Indeedly ^w^ Animals can too easily be given too many human qualities in fiction because it's simply easier to write, but Adams manages very well to stay... I guess, on the border. Still, some of my favourite scenes were the rabbits' El-ahairah stories.
Agh, scales are the pits when it comes to putting detail on animal pelts. I find fur easy in comparison XD

Yeah, I remember seeing Plague Dogs. Or at least, the video I saw was titled Plague Dogs Uncut (I assume it's the same thing). Should perhaps look out for the book as well though o3o

I'll have to check next time I hit the bookstore. But I checked and I think they altered the ending of the story, to where it's not quite so epic as the movie >: /

The ending of the movie confused me so much. It just seemed like the strangest cliffhanger to bring the end credits in. XD

You're to decide what became of the dogs. They found the island, I think it said, but was it real or did they imagine it? Both movies had heartbreaking endings

Heh, to be honest I think I was pretty tired and not paying enough attention, thus I was taken by surprise. XD

Watership Down did indeed end sadly, but it was a satisfying sort of ending, I thought. Not that I'm glad Hazel died, but well... at least he died peacefully and was led to a happy afterlife. It seemed to round the movie off nicely.
