Description started these when I first heard about the contest to draw the Baldur's Gate NPCs as drow for the Ust Natha quest [link] ... and then got stuck working 98% of the last five weeks (okay, I had two days off in 5 weeks I don't feel like doing the math but IT WAS A LOT OK URGHLJGDLJF??), so forgot this until JUST NOW A DAY TOO LATE OH THE IRONY

But I finished 'em anyway... was going to do my whole party, but Viconia already was a drow (and I painted her a couple times already ), and Minsc, I just have no idea how an elvish Minsc would look... have to think about it more... xD

ANYWAY! Imoen, my PC Sajantha, Edwin, and Jaheira all drow-ified. ;D

I adore your work. Made me restart the trilogy. I wish you could have done drow versions of all BG2:EE NPCs. Perhaps some of your PC portraits too.

aw, wow, thank you! haha honestly I might redo Sajantha and Edwin someday (wasn't really thinking; red robes aren't so drow-ish, whoops xD)... but the others I can't really see myself ever amassing enough inspiration/momentum to carry me through so many. Maybe a couple random ones, though!

That's a shame. I had manually changed Edwin's portrait to Edwina during his quest and would have loved to change all my party members' portraits to drow versions of themselves in Ust Natha. I suppose I can only hope you will do it some day. In the meantime, keep up the good work!

I haven't made bitmaps for these. Might do it in the next update, if enough people are interested, I suppose.

I don't need bitmaps 4 my "Downloadables" but I recall bitmap files seem 2 B unusable 4 online activities!

Since drow females think males being dumb brutes... I think he wouldn't really get any attention.

I so love the old BG 2 characters and I so love how you interpret them.

Edwin: Of course I am a superior wizard here as everywhere, but I don't like kowtowing to the females...

As for Minsc, the look would be no problem; can see a dead serious bald Drow....problem is Minsc would have a helluva time staying in character. And what do you do with Boo? Turn him into a little salamander or something?

haha exactly! ;D yeah, Edwin would have a hard time holding his tongue, I think (but at least he's smart enough to catch on)... Minsc? I don't know who he could fool, you're right. (And a salamander? that is cracking me up!!)

And I could draw a bald drow, true, but it wouldn't look anything like Minsc, is all. Unless he just had a sweet/doofy/dopey expression, maybe...

Yeah!! I always wished there was even more dialogue with her in Ust Natha; I wanted to hear what she had to say about EVERYTHING. ^^ And thanks! You know, I thought drow were like regular elves and couldn't grow facial hair, but now I'm not sure if that's official lore or just an assumption on my part. (But it is difficult to look like Edwin without that goatee, haha)

well, I have to admit I thought about it including it (especially since he looks so weird without it!), but I saw some of the white-bearded ones on the contest thread, and I think it looks even more weird that way. x3 (I hate painting white eyebrows on dark skin, too, blechhh. xD) But I will fully concur that it's not Edwin without that goatee!! <3

Hehe I actually like the colors of drow, but that might be a leftover of my childhood fascination with them. Man, did we live D&D, Drizzt novels and all of that I miss it, being just SOOOOO into something, so excited!

ooh whoops, sorry; I didn't mean that I didn't like their colors, so much as I didn't like painting their colors: there is actually a distinction! ;D Same for blonde hair on a tan face; any time the hair is lighter than the skin tone, it requires a bit of extra consideration/maneuvering when you're painting it... it's FAR easier to get it to look ridiculous than to get it to look natural. You can almost never make the eyebrows as bright as the hair or they will look like they're glowing or something. It's kind of annoying.

But aww yeah I know what you mean... I'm trying to think of the last thing that made me all ridiculously giddy... it's a pity that that's so restricted to childhood kind of fascinations, isn't it? Maybe we're too jaded and desensitized to enjoy something with pure, unadulterated delight any more. ;_;

Ah, I get you then ;D I always found it easier to paint dark hair, but I kept looking at bright painted hair to make some peace with it and I've found a way to deal with them. Never had the eyebrow glowing problem though

I still can get ridiculously giddy about things, I get SO into shit it's not really good for me. And when I was a kid it was all fine because I was a kid, but as an adult I gotta bottle it up somewhat and try to fight it. And it makes me MISERABLE. Also the fact that I can still dream about impossible things like a kid does, but realize that they are not going to happen is pretty downing ;<
