Description This is a portrait of my Mom's hand over my grandmother's. Hands reveal so much about how hard people have lived. I wanted it to be a 3-generation portrait but there really wasn't anybody else to take the photos but me. Since I created this piece, I've had a few hand portrait commissions which I truly find more rewarding than facial portraits.

I did this portrait as my charcoal drawing tutorial that I agreed to do for EBSQ. Tutorial

Wow. Absolutely lovely, and so expressive. This really touched me- I'm surprised you don't have thousands, even tens of thousands more views with art like this, and the rest of your gallery. It's all so impressive.

Thanks so much Jeaneai love that passionate reaction lol Though I have to confess, one of the hands on my mermaid painting is not a good hand so some days are better than others

Thanks so much! So where do you get your inspirations?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RiotKarma In reply to artbyerika [2007-09-30 21:47:43 +0000 UTC]

my inspirations come from vibrations that then becomes emotions, then visions that then transform themselves in forms, colours and, finally in images and mixed themselves with memories concretely lived or only dreamed ..i prefear not to give too many concept behind my works, i 'd like to paint symbols behind a vision or a paint...the less are the words of the Reality, the nearest are the thruths of the Dream....

I couldn't have said it better I might just have to memorize that and dazzle people with it Each piece of art is an intricate woven piece like tapestry.

RiotKarma In reply to artbyerika [2007-10-02 15:45:46 +0000 UTC]

i agree...and every tapestry is just another small piece of a bigger one that than becomes again a small piece for building something else...it sounds a bit like the teory of the evolution maybe, but my eyes got this perception....nothing is absolute in the art..and i'm really glad to met you...

gently soul, every thruth stands behind relativity...the more you fix the concept the more you loose the light ..to follow and trust in the intuition is the engine to walk more free ...i'm glad you make me come out such words..thanx..

artbyerika In reply to tenshi-no-pocky [2007-09-05 04:34:23 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! I painted the ground with acrylics mixed with pumice texture first. Draw the wrinkles by shading in the shaded areas first; leave lighter areas as the ground color and at the very end, apply your lightest lights with white pastels ok now teach me to paint your beautiful floral watercolors
