This cake topper was heavily influenced by the cake topper created by this Flickr user here: [link]I am crediting her with the inspiration, as, well, she DID inspire me to create my own Zelda cake topper.
With help from , who basically put the whole thing together, we were able to make the topper that will be going on my wedding cake in 9 days.
I'm pretty excited with how this came out. I noticed later that Link looks a little bald under his cap, so I added some "hair" with a fine tip Sharpie. Hoo boy.
Looking back, I think now that we should have painted Link's clothes black so he could be "Dark Link" and somewhat have that tuxedo/wedding look, but Dan is happy with his outfit being green, and besides...Link and Zelda needed some hair contrast. You can't have two hot blonde heroes running around!
Anyway, the cake topper is done and soon the wedding will come! I'm getting so anxious now!

Thanks so much for crediting me for making the original cake topper! It was so much fun to surprise my hubby with this and see all of his friends go nuts! He's sitting right beside me playing his DS as I post this, so needless to say, things continue to be joyful and dorky with us. I get contacted all the time with requests to make this or sell the one I made, and if you visit my flickr photos now, I include an explanation of why this isn't possible. Basically the figures are just too expensive, and original one has too much sentimental value to give away! Congratulations to you and your partner - I'm so flattered, and you did a great job! If I may ask, where did you get your figures? My fiancee and I are also doing Zelda cake topper (our wedding is gamer-themed) and I'm having a hell of a time finding teh figures.

It was a hell of a search on eBay, I'll tell you that. I used the Twilight Princess Zelda and the Link came from a set that included Epona. They were extremely expensive too; I had to pay $50 for the Link figure because he's rare, but Zelda was relatively cheap at $20.

You're welcome! Just be expecting to drop a lot for it. I think altogether I paid about $110 to make the cake topper, with all of the materials that needed to be purchased to create it. Let me know if you find the figures!
