Description After letting that white paint dry for weeks I was finally able to get it scanned and finish the last of the tutorial. The finished painting is called Widow's Walk.

After the 4th working session it was still too vertical, too much the same color and too much the same texture and shape on the rocks. It needed vitality and energy and to have more movement. I jumped in and hacked out some rock, chisled other to have flatter surfaces and sharger edges and changed the colors on some.

I can't tell you how I did it step by step, except that I used the same techniques of laying down opaque and transparent and semi transparent glazes as in the 1st 4 tutorials, and the same colors except that I added Van Dyke Brown and Permanent Green and Thalo Green. I could not think my way through this one but went on instinct. It took days working 2-4 hours at a time. Some artists may be able to logically work through their entire painting, but frequently I cannot. I am including links to the first 4 sessions for anyone who would like to look at them again.

he does a lot of 'boring' art for his comics but every comic has some bigger prints with beautifull landscapes. thats what i like the most.

Thanks. I'm satisfied with it. You know, it's not one that I think I really like this one. I'm really happy with it.....this one I'm content with and feel like I've done all I can.........well, I do wish the bushes were a little different, but I wouldn't redo them even if I did have the time. Enough is enough.

The changes you've made to the rocks are very effective and the variation in the rocks looks really pleasing. This is excellent work.

Wow, when you get up close to the painting it looks so complicated. This turned out beautiful, and I know what you mean about not being able to explain how you did something logically. My best stuff has come out of me just throwing myself into it for a few hours without really thinking about it. Anyways, wonderful tutorial, I do watercolors and acrylics myself, but I can definitely apply some of these tips to them! Thanks!
