Description
I can now say this was a commission by Rich Knoll for his wife's birthday in November. She's happy with it I'm glad to say. From the novel Shahly's Quest by Rich Knoll. When Vinton, the blood bay stallion unicorn, Shahly's true love, is captured by humans, she (the white unicorn) faces dragons and becoming human to rescue both him and a female dragon in human form from the humans, making friends and enemies among the humans. After enduring human emotions and intrigue, capture, and fighting ogres and villanesses, they escape, together, at last.
Colored Pencil. I started out with the harder (but easier to erase) Verithin to begin building the color, progressed to the Faber Castels and Caran d'Ache pencils and ended with the Prismacolors. I used as little white pencil as possible and used the white of the paper shining through the pencil in the light areas, the same as is done in water color. I have some shots of this in progressive stages that I may upload later.

God... even if i'd went to bathroom every 4 monutes, eat something every half an houer and sleep like 12 hours which leaves me something about 2 weeks...yeah i should defintely spend some more time on my drawings...thanks for the answer.

LOL, lots of people are faster than I am at drawing. But something to keep in mind is that colored pencil, to look rich and beautiful has to be layered which takes a lot of time. Most of my colors have 6-12 layers of color, although a 12 layer section may only be a fraction of an inch by a fraction of an inch in size.

Yeah, but slow is good, better safe than sorry. Couse if you run for your work it will also look likte that. I should fianlly buy 120 pencil compect, then i could actually do more that 3 layers.

Multiple pencils is very important in colored pencil, since they are semi transparent, letting all the layers show through. Multiple colors give you more options and flexibility in developing the layer effect for sure.

I know, sometimes it make me laugh that i am sitting an hour to the drawing, layering and just looking to the layers and then i take a look back and see that i have like shaded somewhere i didn't have to. Too concentrate is also not good.
