Description This makes me want to giggle, and I'm way too old to giggle........
how's this for color?

My request for suggestions for improvement of my recent Underwater netted suggestions of bubbles, light rays, and more detail,........ and said it was lacking my usual odd use of strong color (my wording, not hers )....... and she was right.

I'm going to leave the first version, Underwater up for the time, just to show the changes.

I'm still open for suggestions for improvements. This is great fun.

I like this one better! It's great you can take suggestions and make things better, some people just take it wrong.

And yes, makes me giggle!! JOY!!

Wow, it looks fantastic! You pulled off the effects really well, and the 'boost' of colour certinatley helped too Now it has much more atmosphere and more feeling of movement

I like this one better than the first one (and I like the first one plenty )

Sounds like you've gotten bit by the digi bug hehe...staying up till all hours. It's pretty interesting stuff

Hm. Suggestions...Well I love what you've done with the colour here, so I wouldn't change anything with that, though knowing how much we both love rocks (and is there anything purtier than a wet rock?) maybe you could add some hints of depth of colour? Like, some darker bits lining the bottoms and the bottoms of the feet to give more depth or definition, but just a hint, and not carried throughout the entire form of each piece so the swirling water still runs through each form...I like the swirling water. And the fishie Reminds me of wading through Crooked Creek when I was a kid *sigh*

I really like what you've done with those toes, all sweet and rosy. And so glad you're enjoying digital...

Are you working with a mouse or have you replaced that tablet?

I can't imagine using a mouse it's so hard for me to handle...and sorry, I thought your tablet wasn't working

Well, I thought maybe just a hint of definition at the bottoms of the forms of the rocks and feet, and maybe play around with the colour of the rocks for added richness and fun It IS fun to play around with the shading in rocks, especially wet rocks have such a rich colour and blending.

Sorry, I'd add more but I'm in a bit of a brain fog at the moment, the heat is horrendous here

My tablet is okay, but I used the mouse for this one, since I was too lazy to walk across the room and get it out of storage! Shame on me! I'm a little confused as to what you were suggesting as to dark bits. Could you explain a bit more. Do you think I should add some more color bits to the ground to look like more small rocks and rock pieces, add more color variation to existing rocks, color reflecting up on feet from off rocks, or bits of rock and soil sticking to feet? I have gone back and been adding a bit more to the feet in modeling but I want to have a clearer idea of your thoughts to consider as I work on it more.

*bounces around singing about color*

(Well, I posted twice on the other one, we couldn't have this one feeling all neglected now, could we?)

Of course not, especially since it's grown up so much from it's lowly beginnings.......and still evolving....hope I don't take it too far and kill the poor thing! LOL

Maybe I should let it rest soon, with not much fine tunning. *mulling, oh, that's right, I have to be looking at it to be mulling!*

Hmm, who would have thought the word mulling would lead me to think of ruminating and then to think of...............cows.........God, I must be crazy!

You know...to be honest I think I liked the original more...it had this simplicity that I really liked...Though I do like this one as well

One thing I would change would be bring a LITTLE more focus to that back foot.

ArtbySandiJohnson In reply to wolf02 [2008-01-08 02:55:47 +0000 UTC]

hmm, rubs chin, I sort of thought the toes and er, the toenails on the near foot needed more work..................but more focus on the back could help.........I'll take it under advisement!

Hmm, I'm working on it, and I did a bit more to the far one, not much, yet. I just thought the line under the nails a bit clumsy.

hmm, fishy could be a little overbright and noticeable..........by the way this was my 2nd response, so read the other one first

LOL, well, sorry, at least both can exist in the digital world. ........I could always blurr the detail on the fish some, but I think I will continue with it as is and see what else I may do to layer the water a bit more. Consider it a place to learn, this painting.
