Another dedication piece. This time in honor of all the mothers who would do anything for their children.
This was another one of those times where I really had to sit down turn up the tunes and kick it in gear. So again, if there's any mistakes, I'm sorry. I'm a mess.
It was a really close race between these two and the Aristocats. In the end Avatar won out cause I thought it would be a nice change to stray away from the Disney this year.
Plus I really wanted to show some love for the absolutely beautiful relationship Zuko has with his mom. There's, of course, also a bonus turtle duck.
Every piece has it's really difficult part and for this one it was definitely the background. I almost died making it but it was great practice and I rather like the way it turned out. So it was a win win. Yaaay!
Well, here comes the part where I wish you all a very Happy Mother's Day with your moms or whoever is the mother figure in your life. Happy Mother's Day, y'all!

it's nice that Zuko and Ursa got a happy ending in the comic extension of the "Where is my mother?" question that Zuko asked his dad at the final episode. o3o

This really beautiful. I love bond Zuko has with his mother. She was loving person and good mother to him but Azula to much like her father to have bond with her mother. I love the little turtle duck in this art as well. Your art is dream come true. I hope you do some art with Zuko and his uncle Iroh who more of father to him his own birth dad who burn half face off. I think you for taking time make such great art. Know that this gift be forever treasure in billions avatar fans forever like me. Aww, Crissy! This is such a gorgeous, heartwarming tribute for Mother's Day! I know no other artist that is as incredible at color schemes and atmosphere as you. The intense warmth of the sunset colors and the fitting textures in this piece are, as always, breathtaking!! I don't know how you do it, seriously teach me. I'm sorry to hear you were a mess, though. I imagine it was rough on you, sweetpea, and all the hugs and support for making it through the sad day—but I hope there were happy memories, too. All my love!
It's been awhile since I've watched Avatar but Zuko being a mama's boy stuck in my head as the most endearing, and this moment absolutely emphasized why. It was so touching, and his mother was a beautiful, strong person and I admired her greatly; she comforted and protected her soft son and still tried to reach out and sympathize with her harsher daughter. Loved her story! You captured their relationship perfectly, right in the feels, and their expressions are the best! Lookit lil' Zuko's happy face, pettin' that darling baby turtle-duck! I can't!
The scenery is beyond lovely, ugh. The perspective of all the structures and buildings is a nice break from the gardens, and you did a fabulous job on the background. You didn't die from it so yay! XD On to tackle the next background challenge, eh? XD For real, though, you should be proud of the effort and heart you put into this celebration of mothers.

Oh yeah, there were definitely happy things. Despite stuff I've still got the rest of my family to celebrate and enjoy things with. Thank you so much though, for the well wishes and concern. They're appreciated and do mean a lot.

Totally. She was a great character. Plus even though we don't get a lot of scenes with her, I feel the ones we do get are a really important enforcement on why Zuko isn't a huge ass like most of his family is. I mean, yes, he has Iroh. But they weren't solidly hanging out until his, like, teen years. So probably more of his kindness is due to his mom than I think she gets credit for. And, yeah. I thought it was really sweet, too, that even though she didn't understand her she still tried her best with Azula.
Wheee! I'm so glad you like the expressions. Especially Kid Zuko. Cause he was way out of the box for me. 
Haha, yeah. Me not dying while doing a background is a big change. Hopefully the next one will end with me even further from death.

He's so angsty and such a fighter, and also he spent the entire first season simply wanting to get back into his father's good graces. However, we certainly see a caring, honest side to Zuko early on, so his mother's influence is evident. It's so cute, him a mama's boy! That is so true, seeing how pivotal Ursa is to her children's lives, despite the fact she disappeared while they were still young. Such an admirable woman, and wonderful storytelling!
Ahhh, but you draw kids so well! I still look back on your piece from last Mother's Day, with the Hawkins, and my heart melts.
