Support me onΒ Patreon |Β Like my Facebook pageUntil a few hours back I had no idea who Alexz Johnson was. I just wanted to draw a female face portrait. I found the reference photo in google images while searching for refs, liked the lighting and the angle so decided to use it. Only after finishing the drawing I noticed the words 'Alexz' and 'Johnson' in the jpeg file name and found out that the girl is actually a Canadian Singer-Songwriter. xD
Software used: Paint Tool SAI.
Time Taken: 5-6 hours.

just a question: when you do a portrait, where do you put your reference? In the same screen where you draw? I have always troubles with this thing...

I take a big canvas, paste the reference in the right half and draw in the left half (obviously on a different layer), maybe putting a thick black line between the drawing and the ref is a good idea.Β
After I'm done coloring I just crop out the ref :3
