They are horrendously expensive to buy, insure and maintain here I test rode an Indian Scout about 18 months ago - a fine machine but again, I needed a mortgage to buy and insure.... I would agree that the "Big Boys" are Beautiful Brutes but in the end when one is running on a budget some reality of local market forces comes into play....

Both beautiful bikes - my last (road legal bike) in the UK was a 600cc single cylinder Panther... but all now very expensive and it is a devil to get spare parts and also someone skilled enough to do any larger maintenance of an "non-electronic" machine.... Dreams are made of this!!!

Indeed. The Triumph was a really fine machine. The sound, the style, the fact that the oil was pumped through the frame to cool it down, etc... And the Norton was equally endowed. Both really good bikes.
