Okay, so I'm a new deviantArt artist. I decided for my very first uploaded artwork, I would have to choose something epic. So here it is!

Overall really happy with how this turned out. Really colorful and Red's expression is funny. He's all like "O-M-Geodude, what IS that??"

Inspiration for this piece:

A few weeks ago I watched a YouTube video about a glitch in the original Pokemon Red and Blue games that allowed you to catch the "hidden" Pokemon, Pokedex number 151, Mew. Mew wasn't supposed to be obtainable in those games, but the data for it was encoded into the games anyway, and some Pokemaniac figured out a way to trick the game into a Mew encounter without the use of a cheating or hacking device. I thought it was pretty cool.

Unfortunately this glitch isn't present in any games I own, so no Mew for me .

But I still thought it would be cool to illustrate Red and his encounter with Mew. I mean imagine if you were just walking along when you spotted some crazy super rare Pokemon that isn't even recognized by the Pokedex (which is why there's a big "?" on the screen of his Pokedex).

I suck at drawing backgrounds, so I used a reference. I just googled "magical place" and I found a pic to draw from. It's still entirely hand drawn, I just had to look at something ^^.

Done with #2 pencil, colored pencils, a variety of markers
