Description
Twilight would probably go full-on Nostalgia Critic on some of her books.---
Background credit goes to Sulyo .
Nobody take offense please, I actually loved reading LoTF.
But yeah, they could've used some better organization there...

Lord of the Flies? Yeah I kind of had the same reaction. Then I just hoped cannibals showed up and ate everybody rather than be rescued.

Sometimes I feel that way when reading books. Author tries really hard for us to feel sympathetic for the protagonists and I'm all "YOU WORKED REALLY HARD FOR THIS MORONS NOW ENJOY YOUR HELL!"

Man I got to read that sometime.
There's a lot of classics I gotta read, come to think of it. 1984 has just been sitting in my room for a while.

Nostalgia Critic <3. And I'm totally with Twilight here! There are times when I get so into the books that I'm reading that I actually start yelling at the characters XD. Same with T.V., movies, anime/comics, and video games XD

She's reading "Lord of the Flies", I think. The lesson here: anarchy is bad, kids.

She'd have to yell way louder for anyone to listen to her.
(or squeeze a bird like she did in the episode)

I dunno what your process is for speech bubbles, but I know what a lot of cartoonists do is come up with the dialogue first, figure out how big the speech bubbles need to be, then use the speech bubbles as one of the primary parts of composition in each panel — where they are placed in the panel dictates where a lot of other things end up, NOT the other way around, because in a lot of instances they are actually more important than what happens visually (i.e. scenes with a lot of dialogue). You want them to be read anyway, so placing compositional focus on speech bubbles is just as important (or sometimes even more so!) as compositional focus on any other subject in a scene! Comics are not always just pictures with words, after all; sometimes they're actually words with pictures.

I actually figure out the dialogue on the go, then write them onto a different layer and put speech bubbles under them. And move them around until it looks OK.
