All with a mouse? Tough.

absolutly stunning- I never fail to wonder how really great artists(see example A) manage to put such depth and character into their art while at the same time not seeming to be adding anything at all to a collection of flat, simple lines. This is beautiful and enlightening.

how do you keep the line art over the colors. is it pencil? did you use painter or photoshop or niether?

Uhm, I'm really sorry, this might be a really stupid question and your answer'll prolly be "Because it felt right" or similar...
but, why did you use purple to shade her hair? It makes it look really striking, i know, but why purple and not anything else that contrasted with orange?

Anyway, thanks for your time. n_n
it's a beautiful piece, something you no doubt have heard a thousand times before and for good reason.

buttericin In reply to ThyLaSlain [2005-11-20 20:25:45 +0000 UTC]

i know its completely speculation, but often what artists do is reflect the colours of surrounds in skin and hair - so the purpley colour comes from that (seeing as her top also has that purple toning on it)

err yeh..... *runs away*

I just started using Photoshop about two or three days ago and have now stumbled across this.
Things like these really help people like us who are clueless with Photoshop.

Cheers for that.

It's many peoples aspirations, I'm sure, that they reach to your level of standard.

just having caps of the process provides much for us to learn from.

I'd study any tutorial-like things you'd create. Being an amateur is very hard without actual art schooling.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Artgerm In reply to minuitserenite [2004-10-10 15:43:44 +0000 UTC]

Just open a new layer on top of your lineart art and set it to Multiply mode.
