I'm more of a vector artist and cel shader and seeing pieces like this always blew my mind. I've seen tutorials and been lectured by instructors, but none of them said as much as your textless step-by-step.

this is really astounding. If you didnt mention this was digitally done, I would have thought it's a watercolour piece.

I like how you do flat color in section and then add shaddows and highlights.
My question is, do you use "dodge and burn" or multiple adjustment?

Nope i dun use dodge and burn nor any adjustment layers...all the highlights and shadows are painted in.

In that case, I'm not only a fan of your illustration abillities. I'm also impressed by your control of color.

I was interested by the finished version of this drawing, to look for this so called "process". And I think I like it as a piece of artwork itself. Kinda like Andy Warhol. I think it looks really good that way.

Neat-o
I only have one question: Isn't easier for you to settle the base colors first an then go to the details? (If I don't do it that way I usually screw the tones...
)

is it possible for you to put text instructions? I'm having problems separating the "ink" layer from the color layer and I could really use your expert help thanks

Humm... just noticed a problem with her left shoulder, well...with her shoulders in general. You seem to have somehow combined 2 positions in one. Now how could I explain:S
-The tiny line defining her right shoulder from her boob should be tossed slightly to the right (from our point of view), since now it seems she's facing in the same direction her head is.
-Also, her left shoulder comes out of nowhere, if she is indeed facing the bottom left corner of the sheet, the line you drew for her left shoulder should ...ehmmm... be a bit to the right I think....
Ok I know my explanations were totaly screwed but there is definitely a problem with her torso-neck orientation........My last submission has a pose similar in terms of orientation of the neck vs the shoulders. It would show what I'm trying to say here...Anyways, I think it's really cool you showed the progression, and the final result is, again, very cool!

Finally... This is something that I've been waiting to see from you. I've really wanted to know your process in making a piece. I mean, I do wish it could be more in depth, but htis does the trick. You have an amazing, beautifully flowing style that I really respect and admire. You're the kind of person that my Drawin instructors talk about and say that they were just born with that certain touch.
Keep up the good work!

This is what DA is about at its best... Great art/illustration, and the sharing of information, the prompting of insightful questions and the time taken to give informative answers...
I agree with spacerobotfive that this is a brilliant and useful post... "invaluable"... Thanks for taking the time to post it.

(I must say while I'm at it, that your Pepper series is a great example of how to explore a single characters design potential... a real inspiration...)
