Description
When a powerful deity of Karma sees fit to strip two feuding gods of their power and send them back to force them to learn to get along after causing the fall of a kingdom, things don't always go so smoothly.

Especially not when one of the reborn ones is a sassy teenager.

In which Vaesa (Formerly the Radiance) tries to get under Kavuta's (The former Pale King) skin, but he shoots right back and all she can respond with is threatening to bite.

Not sure what to call my AU yet, but basically... Ghost eats a god (Accidentally, mind you, he was just trying to end the infection!) and becomes the Shadelord, but he repairs his shell and stays in the form he prefers, though much taller. Hollow survived, but has trauma and PTSD, and Hornet ends up helping him out, because she has memories from her childhood.

(Note that while Vessels are sorta both and neither at the same time... Ghost and Hollow decided to just go by "he" for convenience)

Quirrel lives, and ends up with Ghost.

As things settle down, a strange egg hatches in the abyss, inhabited by the soul of the Pale King, who is named Kavuta by Xonoth, stripped of all his power and now stuck as one of his own creations with a strange mark on his forehead. He has a lot to learn, and a bad attitude, and a terrible temper, but over time starts to mellow out a bit as he tries to make at least some things right. Once he starts to improve and learn his lesson, He Who Sees All throws a curveball, in the form of an orphaned little moth child he finds with a whole lotta sass and even more bite. Of course, he takes her back to Xonoth, who is acting like a parent to him since his hatching down in the abyss. Xonoth takes the moth in as well because she is alone ... and they both find out not long after that she's actually the Radiance... reborn as a normal, mortal immune-compromised fluffball of a moth with a really bad attitude.

And they have to learn to get along.

Kavuta calls her Vaesa, simply meaning "Light". Though his preferred nickname for her is Angry Cottonball. Which... she eventually just accepts.

They end up having to take their journey of redemption together, as siblings (He the big brother and her the little sister, even if she's annoyed that he is actually the younger one as far as Higher Beings go xD) with a lot of smarting off between them. Though, as they learn and grow together, their rivalry gradually becomes more playful and less bitter, and they finally realize that a whole lot of pain and trouble could have been avoided if the Pale King hadn't been such an arrogant powerhungry dick... and she hadn't been such a vengeful bitch taken by rage.

What they did can not be undone, but they have to lay the road down for a better future while working together. Bitter rivalry gives way to a shaky friendship, and, finally, kinship. (No, they aren't shipped together in this AU...their relationship remains purely platonic, like siblings with a huge rivalry that also have eachother's back.)

With the Vessels that survived slowly taking over Hallownest, they watch on and help where they can.
