So here's my first real attempt at digital painting that I did by following (sort of) a tutorial by some dude who's name now eludes me. Comments would be nice (as long as they're nice, see?)Related content

Omigoodness, digital painting is hard. I assume when you are talking about this piece, you did the whole image on the computer? Idk why, but I still struggle with that....
I think you did a great job keeping the lines steady in this piece!! Whether you used a steady hand or a higher resolution, I find that impressive. However I try drawing on the computer my lines are always frozen in a never ending jig.
I think the highlights work well, but if you blur your eyes all you can see is the skintone and highlights. Shadows are intimidating, but don't be afraid to make them darker, or more contrasting with the skintone.
Just curious - is this inspired by anyone you know? Just looks like this dude has a lot of character... almost reminds me of a redhead I go to school with too!
Sorry if this comment is a bit wierdly worded... it is my first day back working in my school's recruitment office and my mind is a bit muddled. Still, 'tis a great time to catch up on DA when the work is slow!

Thanks Skye! Yeah, I did it all on the computer. I didn't go too high-res with it though, I just zoomed in to like 300% for most of it! lol (btw, in Photoshop, the more you zoom in, the smoother your lines are when you zoom out again) This isn't actually inspired by anyone I know though. It's just how it turned out. Like I said, it's a first attempt -- I'll take what you said about shadows into account next time!
It's been fun replying to your comments! I'll note you some time soon, k? TTYL!
