Description
These are some unfinished habitation units on the island that I'm still refining. I've been toying with the idea of putting a light inside them, please let me know what you think!ISLAND FORTRESS PROJECT
===================
The project isn't finished, but I wanted to showcase my progress on it as it comes along. I'm going to eventually make a video of it (and maybe post it in flash/shockwave form on DA).
Please!!! If you have any input at all (constructive, of course), I'd love to hear it!

MYST!!!!!!
Hahaha, sorry... this image just reminded me somehow of the Myst computer games - ever played those!! AWESOME AWESOME stuff...
Anyways, me and ADD hee!
I really like how this one is coming along!! Great shapes, and I love how you have them interacting with the landscape instead of just simply plopped on top. I think that give a lot of character to the building!
As for putting the light inside: hm.... I kinda like the abandoned look of the building right now, but it depends on your final idea or project. I guess if it WERE abandoned, more imperfections would have to be added. I'd say if you put a light inside, experiement with warm and cool lights. My first guess would be a warm light, since the BG is so saturated and cool, to help pop it forward. But try both fo' sho'! ^_^

lol Myst?! MYST, you say??!! You know that same thought went through my head like a thousand times?!
I have indeed played Myst (it kicks my ass), but I always loved the graphics in it!
I've actually experimented with putting lights inside and honestly, they don't do much OR they do too much! (damn area lights... *grumbles*) Anyway, I think I'll keep them in there, cuz the buildings aren't supposed to be abandoned per se -- but they are only inhabited by robots (decided that recently). Here are my reasons for that:
1: I love robots.
2: The animation capabilities of Bryce are rather elementary and limited (and if I wanted to do anything more, then I'd be like the guys from the "Duke Nukem: Forever" team, saying stuff like "It'll be done when it's done!" lol)

HAHAHAHAHAH!! Sounds good to me!!
And OMG I love robots too!!! Ever since my group film last year (which was about cartoony robots) I really have been in love with them.... which is why I cannot wait for WallE!!!!!
And I even more can't wait for a bit more advanced household robots!! If my calculations and hopes are correct, I will be around just long enough to enjoy the days of the simple nice robots before they take over and kill us all etc.

Looks good for a start.
Need to tweak the textures because the habs are flat black and thats not right for a sunny day. That means that any details are hidden. Maybe a few tweaks to the diffuse and reflection settings will work.
This might be hard to do but how do people travel from the habs to the different parts of the island?
Could use some decorations, like radar dishes, lights or other stuff on the island. Stuff that says people live here. This may be a style thing too.
If you are going to make a video, at lot of these suggestions will be useless because users will not have time to look at all the details.
Maybe you can tweak out the "Bryce horizon" effect too but thats definitely a style thing.

Thanks for the input! Yeah, most of the model is still pretty rough. But like I said, it's a work in progress. How do I tweak the horizon? I've always been annoyed that Bryce makes it kinda hard to wipe that horizon out. I think I will put lights inside the units, I think it would add more atmosphere. I'm also going to put some plants and stuff around the island too. Anyway, thanks again for your suggestions!

Can get rid of the "Bryce Horizon effect" a bunch of ways.
1. Put stuff in the distance to block it.
Example

2. There is a setting in somewhere in the app, don't remember where because there are a lot of places to look.
3. Postwork it out with your fav 2d app.
Right now I use a big dome and render a picture of a sky and use that as a texture map for the dome.
