As I stumbled across the deck, the thunderous roar of the tempest around me, I could feel my heart racing in my chest. The wind howled and whistled through the rigging, making it difficult to hear anything else, but I could make out the sound of the captain barking orders above the din. My feet slid and slipped on the wet wooden planks, but I managed to make it to the rail and grasp it tightly, peering out into the churning black sea.

That's when I saw it. A shape in the water, massive and looming, rising up on a wave taller than any I'd ever seen before. Lightning flashed, illuminating the creature for a split second, revealing rows of razor-sharp teeth and a pair of glowing eyes that seemed to pierce through me. The ship groaned and creaked as the wave crashed into it, and I felt myself lifted off my feet for a moment before crashing back down onto the deck.

I could hear the screams and cries of the crew around me as they fought to keep the ship afloat, but all I could focus on was the monster in the water. It seemed to be circling us, waiting for the perfect moment to strike. And then, just as suddenly as it had appeared, it was gone, disappearing beneath the waves once more.

The storm raged on, but the creature didn't return. We managed to weather the maelstrom and emerge on the other side, battered and bruised but alive. But the memory of that monster, of those glowing eyes and sharp teeth, would stay with me for the rest of my days.
