I am the keeper of the ancient castle on the outskirts of Valtara. My duty is to tend to the grounds, to keep the gardens blooming, the fountains flowing and the stone walls standing tall. But little do those who visit this castle know, that it is ruled by a monster, a being of darkness, with the power to control the very fabric of reality.

I remember the first day I was appointed to this role, I was warned of the dangers that lurked within these walls, but I was young and foolish, I didn't believe in monsters and magic. How wrong I was.

I have witnessed things that would make the bravest of warriors quiver in fear, creatures that should not exist, creatures born of the darkest magic. But it is not just the creatures that haunt this place, it is the magic itself, a power that seeps from the very stones, a power that can warp the mind, twist the soul and end the world.

This castle is the heart of a portal, a gateway to a world of darkness and horrors, a world that should remain sealed and forgotten. But the monster that rules this place, it seeks to unlock the portal, to bring forth the terror of that world and conquer Valtara.

I stand guard at the entrance to this world, to prevent the monster from unlocking the portal. I may be but one man, but I have a weapon, a weapon of light, a weapon that has been passed down through the generations, a weapon that holds the power to destroy the monster and the magic that fuels it.

I may die in this task, but it is a duty that I must fulfill, a duty to protect the world, to keep the portal sealed and the horrors of that world locked away forever.
