Description

The Minotaur of ancient Crete (now Greece) had a notorious reputation in his time. He was the result of the forbidden love between the Queen of Crete and a white bull. A fierce male figure with a bull's head, he was imprisoned in a labyrinth. At regular intervals, young men and women were sent into the labyrinth to appease the creature. The myths describe him as fierce and dangerous.
What is omitted are the feelings of the man/beast. He must have felt rather lonely in his underground domain in/near the prosperous city of Knossos. It is assumed that he consumed the sacrifices sent to him, but we don't know for sure.
Certainly, others in the city would have felt excluded and sad as well. However, what sets this hungry boy apart is that he seeks the company of the dangerous creature. This was surprising and not recounted in the myth. And it appears to work out between the two. Or is he just a meal?
