Description
Update:Ok, I did a Little Research. This centipede is called a "House Centipede" in Lamens terms. The Genus Species name is "Scutigera Coleoptrata." It is mostly carnivorous & eats small bugs & occasionally Vegetation. It grows up to 1 1/2 inches about. It has a slight venom for hunting other bugs, but is not anything that a cat, dog, or human should be worried about.
--------
I found this Strange Centipede in My Kitchen last night at about 12. I had walked in & turned the Light on & saw This Centipede crawling across my floor. I had an Empty Orange Juice Cup in my hand that I was going to rinse out, but instead I caught the Centipede under My cup, unharmed. I then put a piece of paper under the cup & dropped it in a jar.
I would really like to know what kind of Centipede this is. I assume it is nocturnal. I would like to find out what it eats & how to care for it. It is at least 1 1/2 inch long. I wonder if it is poisonous? If you would like to know the Region that I found it in, it is Frankfort, Illinois, South of Chicago. Please Let Me know any info ASAP, If you know anything!
BTW, This isnβt the first time I have seen these in my house, Just the first time I caught a Live one. I always see them at night. I have only seen them a few (3-7?) times though. I wonder if this is a rare Find & if I could sell it to a pet shop? I would rather keep it myself though...

Well, I doubt it is still alive but I will answer anyway.
I think it eats other bugs, it is possible to see it's fangs in the picture so it is certainly a predator. Centepides are venomous and with fangs like that yours must be too however I do not know if this species is dangerous to humans, probably not but don't quote me on that .

YES!
What I will do, it keep it alive & Nurcher it & sell it's droppongs as DNA Samples so people people may clone it & I will make $ that way!
Seriously though, what if it is rare &/or Endangered or not native to this area? If so, depending on the how much so, the best thing I could do is to give it to some one who knows more about it. I would like to keep it will me & alive though.

I actually havn't checked on Ivan in a couple of days. Since Ivan is nocturnal, He/She is allways hiding during the day. Ivan doesn't come out untill it is completely dark & my dad has had the flashlight latly. i think I'll check today though. I can't right now, because i am at school...
Ivan should be fine, I put a dozen baby crickets in the tank, along whith some cat food, Apple slices, & a couple small paices of bacon for the crickts. thatsso the don't try to feed in Ivan.
