Description
“The artist must train not only his eye but also his soul.” ~ Wassily KandinskiTools:
Crayons, Pen, Photoshop, iPhone4
Process:
Photoshop manip of the iris of my crayola drawing: latinabarbie.deviantart.com/ar…
I drew the eye with crayon, photographed it and posted it in the link above. I then selected the iris only and put it in a separate file in photoshop. I used the liquify tool so that it was a perfect circle and added a slight shadow to the corners, liquified the pupil to form a heart and adjusted the colors with a 30% gradient overlay and brought out the white in the highlights. Added a layer of stars as an extra touch. The reason I manipulated the photo is for a circle shaped necklace I am making with just the iris. But then after I was done I thought, hmmm wonder what it would look like if I put the iris back in the original photo. This was the result.
Side note: Keep the cleavage jokes to yourself, don't waste your time because I will delete them! Unless you're a home schooled per-pubescent 14 year old teen that just discovered the internet for the first time through this photo, there's really nothing you haven't seen here before! Plus, there are plenty much more revealing images on dA to keep you entertained. I really don't seen the big deal. But I digress...
These are the exact dimensions of the photo without a crop as it was taken. Instead of cropping the photo, i left the entire photo as it was taken to show perspective of what I could see as the photo was literally being taken from my face. I opened up the TimerCam app on my iPhone, set it for 5 seconds, positioned myself and my hands as you see here and snapped the photo with my top lip. Took a few tries before I got this shot
To see more of my art go to facebook.com/ARTfromtheheART | instagram artisticalshell as i don't post on dA often due to time restrictions.

"the eye is the window into the depths of one soul."
i love the fact the coloring is well done. you did a good job on the blending of colors. done with crayola is just awesome. did you do a sketch first to give a guide line how you wanted done or did you do all on the top of you're head (ie: free hand, no guide lines)? your technique is well established & your work shows your well practiced in the fine arts. keep up the good work. do hope to see more of your wonderful work. it's beautiful.

Y'know, I like these drawings of yours, but I'm pretty sure you can leave the cleavage out and let the art shine on its own. And yes, it's possible.

i didn't intentionally leave the cleavage to distract, i left the photo as it was taken because of the perspective as i think it looks cool cause i took the photo myself by holding the camera in my mouth lol besides, the body is art all on it's own. it's your opinion if you dont like it - i like it. it's my art and i showcase it how i want. thats what artist do!

The body is definitely art. But since it's not the focus of this image, it seems it was intentionally left there for extra attention. Yes, it's my opinion, but I see no harm in leaving critique. And I know of many other ways you could've gone about this to leave the drawing as the focal point.

well to be honest i didn't even think about it because I don't see the big deal and I don't need to show my breasts to get attention. Go look up my name in google. I've been online with my art for about 14 years and have sold many works as well and showing off my body is not a part of my routine. That's totally fine you see it that way and I can understand your perspective but you can be assured I did not do it intentionally and don't feel the need to go out of my way to hide or crop out something that is natural anyway. If people can't handle it, that's their problem, not mine.

I would say that this is mainly a traditional drawing (because most of this was drawn) that happened to be added on to in Photoshop, but the position and pose of your hands seems to be an important part of the overall image/message, and therefore would be primarily photography. In my opinion.
As far as I'm concerned, you have it in the right category! To be "drawing", it might be scanned or photographed to show just the picture.
I suppose it depends on which element of this you consider more important.

What? You can't see it? It looks like you can see straight into the star field in the pupil, as if it were a hole in the paper. It's awesome.
