Description
Every year I make the effort to draw up a little Remembrance Day tribute illustration dedicated to our vets. Annoying enough I had none of my real pencils so I had to use a crappy broken HB2 pencil unfortunately. I hope you all enjoy it, and take a moment to remember those that laid down their lives in service of our country.Related content

Even though you only had a broken HB2 pencil, this looks amazing. I really like the contrast between white/black/red, it makes for a very memorable work of art. Beautiful shading & details - keep up the great work. You definitely did our veterans justice

It looks wonderful... I must ask though and if anyone considers this disrespectful, I wonder how that is possible. Is that also a referrence to homosexuality in military?

What makes you say that?

The embrace of the two soldiers and the flower-motive... it may just be me but it seemed like that.

ah they're not gay or hugging each other. They're comrades in arms.
Or maybe just "friends"

Comrades 'in arms'. Babumm-tss.
Anyways, what a shame. Would've been a nice chance to mention this too. I mean, every army had homosexuals, people who fought for their country but still were - and are - discriminated and who fought for defending the rights of their people but didn't even have the rights to marry who they wanted. ^-^

Really cool picture. The details and the shading are awesome. Just one small thing to mention. I noticed you were part of dA-Canada. And Canadian soldiers didn't wear helmets like the ones on the soldier in the foreground of your photo.
Unless he's not supposed to be a Canadian soldier in which case sorry to have bothered you.

The guy in the back is Canadian and the man in the front is American, yes. I wanted to include both since I do have family in both Countries, even though I'm 100 percent Canadian. Thanks for the props

This was really touching and very symbolic.Β I am honored to have seen it.Β And such beautiful pencil work, too,Β I think the coloring you chose works beautifully for the poppies. I keep thinking of "On Flanders Fields" when I see this.Β
