Description A model of Morph, made using an Aardman modelling clay kit.

I'm following the FutureLearn Explore Animation online course, so I used him to try out stop-motion animation for the first time: youtu.be/POrtwury1BAΒ Sorry it's sideways, I've never done anything like this before and had no idea how it would work out; but hopefully not too bad for a first attempt.

Felt like I was watching a scene from the actual show, that was very well done! Excellent job on the model too!

Thanks, I was pleased with what I managed to do considering it was my first attempt at this kind of thing. Stop-motion is definitely the most accessible form of animation for the hobbyist to try. You don't even have to be able to model or draw - someone on the online course had just animated a line of pompoms.

Thanks, I saw. I'm not sure if I'll be making any more videos, though!

It's really up to yourself whether you want to or not.

....I also like the stop-motion animation; can you make it "longer"?

I don't know...you can only make 2 videos of maximum 50 frames (about 3 secs) with the free app, then you have to pay. I don't have my own smartphone and did this on my Dad's old phone, so I'd have to talk to him about it. (I want to keep the other free video for the moment in case I decide to try out the 2D animation task from the course.)
Also, just after making this, there was already a big crack in the model's arm that I kept having to smooth over - I don't think it would stand up to being used much more! Did you know, when Aardman film Morph, they keep replacing the model with a new one; that's part of the trick to how they keep it looking so nice!
