Description
Rodan is a member of a strange flying member of the dinosaur family called: Yi Qi. They’ve existed since the Cretaceous period and their survival was due to their then small size and fled into the underground world. There, they grew in size and specialized in a lifestyle similar to bats.

Their feet are more akin to primates as it helps them travel on the uneven and jagged outlining of the caves in the underground world. Their wings don’t fold in all the way like a bird’s would, despite it’s striking similarities in appearance.

Rodans have developed a symbiotic relationship w/ Mothras where they’d eat the Meganulon larva that’d go after the Mothra egg(s). In return, the Mothra allows them to roam it’s territory and will excrete a tasty nectar from it’s moth and give it to the Rodan as payment. The Rodans will even groom Mothras of parasites in their fur to earn some of that sweet n’ tasty nectar. Mothras can have multiple Rodans by it’s side at a time, patrolling for Meganulon or even other kaiju to fend off even if they don’t come near the moth kaiju.

They are rather aggressive towards other kaiju if they get too close to their territory and will divebomb them if they ignore their warning calls. This kind of territorial behaviour is similar to magpies.

Two Rodans have been sighted above ground in the late 60’s, and they caused a lot of property damage in their short stay. They soon returned to the caves as their food source: Meganulons, was only found in said caves. The military took advantage of this and opt to cave-in the entrance w/ heavy artillery, powerful explosives and a nearby volcano. However, in the effort to trap the two underground where they originated from, only one was successfully trapped whil the other got away.

On occasion, he’ll tussle w/ the king of the monsters: Godzilla, in his search for territory to call his own on the surface world. There have been reports of Rodan calling out for his mate for hours at a time, only to be unanswered.
