Continuation of a previous post: www.deviantart.com/artmakerpro…Anne, Sprig, Hop Pop and Polly end up on the bad side of Amphibia where Skull Crawlers are abundant. Luckily for them, Kong is nearby and is ready to stomp some Skull Crawler into the ground.

Yes. In fact, I could technically adapt the original novelization of the ‘33 film (cause the copyright wasn’t renewed, so it’s public domain now) as a comic, make money off it, and not get in trouble; as long as I don’t infringe on the likeness of the RKO films that is.
So yeah, Kong indeed has a messy copyright and ownership history.
