A more detailed progression of the previous Graboid evolution (www.deviantart.com/artmakerpro… ) from a sea bound cephalopod to a land based predator. A reverse of the evolution of the whale.

- 1: Graboid still in the early stages of the transition from a shelled to un-shelled cephalopod. A layer of skin covering its mantle. A few remains of it’s outer shell it keeps as protection and retract inward. No bigger than a football. Hides under the sand for additional protection.

- 2: Bigger than before. Can stay ashore longer under the wet sand for any unlucky early land dwellers. Tougher skin. Smaller eye. Its tentacles begin to shorten as the “grabbers” become more developed. Fin is reduced slightly.

- 3: Now no longer needing an outer shell, now much more like modern cuttlefish. Now uses contractions of its chromatophores and jagged rough skin as an early method of digging. Squeezing and relaxing it’s body as it moves through the dirt. Its normal tentacles are now even further reduced. Fin is now practically gone.

- 4: Now fully transitioned to the land as an active subterranean predators. Its cuttlebone acts as an internal ear for more efficient sound detection. Eyes are now practically useless, becoming vestigial. The next stage of evolution being the Graboid we all know and love. Fin is completely gone. Only a hint of its presence it left on the Graboid’s body.
