Description
The effort in this is lacking 😖 wish it came out better, not proud of it. I was trying a different more stylized style rather than my normal realistic style and then just got lazy with it and lost inspiration

The competitions were over, and now it was time for some fun. Rowan had done the best he could, but was still contemplating what he could’ve changed to do better. He shook his head, jarring himself out of his thoughts. Today is supposed to be fun, everyone will be at the beach celebrating. And most importantly, he could bring Diva there too!
“Oh shit,” he mumbled under his breath, realizing how late he was, rushing to get ready. All the show competitors are supposed to be down at the beach in ten minutes, and Rowan was still laying in his bed contemplating life. He threw on the closest pair of clothes that somewhat matched and didn’t look too dirty, shoved his feet into his riding boots, grabbed his helmet, and ran out the door. He’d have to skip breakfast, otherwise he’d be REALLY late and not just late. He hopped there would be food down there, but if not he would just have to suffer.
As he got close to the barn, he stopped sprinting, not wanting to spook any of the horses. Plus, he was out of breath and wasn’t sure if he could run any longer. Sure, he could ride for long periods of strenuous work, but if you asked him to run a 5k, there’s no hope of it happening. He didn’t know why. It was like 30 degrees out which wasn’t helping. Well, maybe that’s exaggerating it a bit, but Rowan was already boiling, and the sun hadn’t even been out for that long. It was definitely going to be the hottest day since he arrived at Sea Dragon Stables.
“Fuck, I forgot sunscreen,” he thought as he went to get Diva ready. He was going to burn today, meteorically and physically. As a native from Ireland, he wasn’t suited for this type of weather, shit, he wasn’t suited for sunny weather or temps over 18°. At least they have AC here, unlike most homes in Ireland.
He did a speed groom of Diva, and went to go get his tack. Then, as he was walking to retrieve his stuff, he had the most brilliant idea that would save him so much time. He was just going to ride tackles. It’s not like they were new to it, they’ve done it a few times before... Ok… maybe they’ve only done it once… but that doesn’t matter, does it? What could possibly go wrong? Was that his fatal question?
Rowan slipped a neck rope over Divas head, doing it with such haste that it got stuck on one of her ears. Diva snorted and shook her head, not appreciating the rushed handling. “Sorry Diva,” Rowan said as he lead her over to a mounting block. She was a little too tall for him to mount from the ground, and he wasn’t quite skilled enough.
As they walked out of the barn towards the beach where all the action was going on, Rowan thought that it was going surprisingly well. “Why, this is my best idea ever!” Diva was cooperating, which basically means not running off with him. She wasn’t being tho most responsive to the neck rein, but with that, his legs, and his seat, Rowan was managing to steer her to where they needed to be.
When they made it down to the beach, only 7 minuetes late, Rowan had diva make a beeline for the food table he spotted. He grabbed a muffin from Divas back, shoving it into his mouth before he had to talk to anyone. It was only a temporary solution, but it usually works. Only once he had eaten and had his coffee was he able to make polite small talk with a few people. Without it he was about as friendly as a gremlin, and even with it he certainly wouldn’t be described as amiable, polite enough, but certainly not friendly. If only he didn’t have to talk to anyone, he was perfectly fine with just his animals.
A few minutes after he arrived there was a speech from the show host. It was something like being so glad to have everyone here for the first show hosted at Sea Dragon Stables and how happy they are that it went well, blah blah blah. Rowan wasn’t really listening, just waiting for it to be over so he could skedaddle and do what he wished with Diva. Diva was also getting restless standing still for so long, starting to paw at the ground.
“And as celebration of this successful event, we invite all of you to enjoy a day at our beaches! You can do whatever you want on the beaches, just enjoy and don’t do anything too stupid!” The crowed laughed at that last remark and then dispersed out towards different parts of the beach. Rowan was glad to get away from these people and wander the beaches on his own.
Walking down the beaches on Diva was surprisingly relaxing, and he was actually enjoying it a lot despite the heat and sunburn he could feel blooming across his skin. A cool breeze was blowing, keeping the bugs at bay and rippling the ocean’s surface into pretty little waves. Sure, Diva wasn’t the most comfortable to ride bareback, but it not like bareback is supposed to be comfortable.
Just then in a particularly warm, sandy spit he felt Diva stop. He didn’t think much of it, just thinking she might have to pee, but when he felt her pawing the sand he knew he was wrong. He tried kicking and pulling up on her neck rein, trying his best to prevent her from rolling, but it was useless. She already had her mind set on rolling right there and then. Rowan felt her knees buckle and knew she was going down, and all he could do was hold on for dear life. If only he had used a bridle, then maybe he could’ve prevented this fiasco.
Once she was down Rowan hopped off, not wanting to be crushed, and watched Diva roll on the warm sand. He stood off to the side, avoiding the spray of sand she was kicking up. Unimpressed, he stood with crossed arms and an almost disinterested expression while he watched, waiting for her to finish. He was now regretting going tackles, wondering how many mistakes he could make, counting those that he did.
When he saw Diva stand up, he walked over to her, grabbing the halter he luckily left on her. At least he didn’t totally mess up, just partly. He needed to stop this thinking, stop blaming himself. It just happened, and there’s nothing that can be done to change it now. Rowan sighed, annoyed at himself and his conflicting thoughts.
He decided to take Diva back to the barn, tired of being out in the sun on the beach, and because the calm mood was now ruined. Plus his social limit was maxed out with all the small talk this morning.

Summary
It is the final day of the show, and there is supposed to be a beach party. Rowan is running late and had to very quickly get ready. Once down at the barn, he had the “genius” idea of riding his horse, Diva, down to the event tackles. It did save him time, and he just about arrived before the presentation. After the speech everyone was dismissed to do as they liked, so Rowan took Diva on a walk down the beach. Diva was being surprisingly cooperative, that is until she decided to lay down in the soft, warm sand with Rowan still on! Rowan got fed up so once she was done rolling he brought her back to the barn.
