The night is like a monsterFingers long and black
Creeping from the closet
To scratch across my back
It is hiding just beyond my eyes
With its being all in view
For even with my eyelids shut
It appears as if on cue
Many things can appear from it
Evil nightmares, pleasant dreams
Yet when you cannot sleep
It becomes endless so it seems
The night is like a monster
In a dreadful sort of way
And when I awake and it's gone
It makes me love the day
