Description
Another wipI've also been practicing my pen inking skills lately and I'm really enjoying it ^w^ Hoping to finish this eventually!
P.S. The title is just a place holder. That is, unless I can't think of anything better xD

Beautiful! I love the serene simplicity of this piece, and the muted colors are just lovely!

Aww, cute little fishies.
I like the idea! I think I've never seen a mermaid drink tea before..
But how is it a WIP? To me, it looks like a finished piece. It could easily be one, but you seem to have other things in mind that I am curious about.

Thank you! There's a lot I would like to do on this before it's done ^w^ I'm glad you like it!

Did you ink it and then scan the drawing in? I like the thickness of the line you have in some parts of the image.

Thank you Yep, I've been trying out traditional inking methods

Neat. They're a bit more difficult in the sense that if you mess up, you can't correct it; while digital inking is easier in most regards.

Yes that's true, but I absolutely love the feel of putting ink onto paper ^w^ Also, I did some digital inking yesterday and I was surprised how much of an impact the traditional inking I've done so far had on my technique. Previously, I had hated inking without the pen opacity jitter turned on. But now, it feels a lot more natural inking at full opacity with just the shape dynamics turned on

Yeah, I enjoy drawing with pen, pencil and charcoal over the digital way even if they can supply the same items (like Corel Painter can) and it's just not the same.
I notice too when I draw a lot more it's easier for me to translate that into digital means because of my physical memory the hand has, if that makes sense haha.
I'll have to try that technique. I like line drawings but I can never figure out how to make it look good without it look wobbly, in the digital aspect I mean.

Yeah I love how it feels working with traditional media. It's such a great experience!
Yeah that makes sense ^w^ although I'm not sure how to explain it either xD
I know what you mean about wobbly lines when drawing digitally. It really gets annoying when I'm trying to ink long lines :/ One thing I've only just started to notice is that my arm tenses up whenever I start inking long lines and that contributes to the wobbliness. I'm trying to learn to be more aware of it and relax my arm as that seems to help me draw more fluidly

Yeah, I want to do traditional media more but digital is so much more convenient and I can get my ideas out faster, but sometimes it's a slower process because I don't think things through haha.
Hmm, so just draw with one stroke for longer lines and try not to go inch by inch? haha I'll try that. It's hard though because I want it to be straight but when I do that, I think I tense up and then it looks bad. I agree haha, your observations are correct. I'll try that in my rough sketches once I get a few good portraits down. Thanks.

Haha, Yeah I know what you mean. I'm really trying to go back to sketching on paper more because I'm finding that in general, when I sketch on the computer, I tend to rush and scribble, and it ends up coming back to bite me later when I'm painting xD I also find that my forms come out better on paper. Not actually sure why I don't do it more ^w^
I try to go as far as I can without breaking a stroke, I seem to get cleaner and more fluid lines that way I've also started drawing through things to avoid breaking a line, and then rub out what I don't need. It seems to help the overall feel of the lines
BTW, I just saw your new sketches. Looking good! I really like the pokemon dressed as a Tonberry. I had forgotten all about those things! I used to love them even though they seriously, seriously creeped me out xD They still creep me out

Yeah haha, same for me. It just looks better on paper. o_o;
I've seen that technique before when drawing the figure and it really seems to help. I should try that too. When I don't draw over the body seems to look a bit more disconnected.
Oh yeah...they creep me out too. o_O; They're so evil haha. One hit and you're dead. Argh so annoying. I always ran when I encountered them haha. Thanks for the compliments. It was a lot of fun to draw.

Yeah ^w^
Haha, I remember vaguely the first time I ever managed to kill a tonberry. I was so proud of myself xD

Haha I'm not sure I have, maybe once in ...7? I can't remember which game. But it was a fluke, after that I ran during every encounter haha.
